Toyota has a really cool manufacturing process and ethos, in general. I toured the Toyota Tundra plant here in Texas after I got my last contract with them, and it was such an eye-opening experience. Their assembly line has this thing called an “Andon Cable” and it’s basically this long rope that stretches the entire

I like how electric cars had existed for years as small city runabouts with poor range, and they sold terribly until someone (Tesla) came along and made a long range highway cruiser. Yet, we still have automakers trying to sell small city runabouts with poor range and bring surprised when they don't sell well

Super Cruise seems like a great system, but this isn’t really a direct comparison. Super Cruise only works on pre-mapped roads, so it’s not really the same as Volvo’s assist or Autopilot, which do their thing on any suitable road in the world.

They ranked it higher solely because they felt it keeps track of the driver better but it’s ranked worse in both performance and far worse in ease of use. In the real world you can only use Super Cruise on specific supported highways and in places like New York the law forbids Super Cruise from being used entirely. GM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I'm a Mazda fan but this offering is crap.  It's just a compliance car that they have no interest in even making.  I can't imagine the range anxiety in that thing.

I don’t understand why looks should matter with a truck. No truck has even been good looking, and looks have never made a difference in their performance. Hell, all the chrome and stupid dressings on trucks just get damaged anyway if the truck is ever used for actual work. I like this thing simply because it’s 100%

The problem is Tesla doesn’t know what makes a good truck.

The vast majority of f150 owners don’t put anything in the back on a regular basis, nor do they actually use trucks, or a Hummer, or Jeeps for that matter, in any way portrayed in automakers fantasy truck advertisements. Most truck buyers are older and conservative and would probably reject Musk’s trucks or cars

Right there with you. Finally, a company has had the guts to do something properly futuristic and weird.

My whole life I’ve wanted car companies to make their concept cars but they never do and I always wondered why. Well the comments show why, because people are full of crap. People say they want a futuristic car or something out of bladerunner. They say they want something unique but at the end of the day they buy a

So much hate. Point is, was Musk “inaccurate”. TopGear showed engaging “Launch control” on Porsche...so why not do the same on Tesla. Highly Shady.

For people claiming they don’t care 0-60 speeds...then don’t watch the video OR comment on an article covering this.

“Better” is relative though. The Tesla beats the Porsche on price, interior room, practicality, and charging network. FWIW.

I largely agree about Musk, but why would you compare time trials of two vehicles using launch control to maximize its performance and not use it on the other. Musk always has a chip on his shoulder and constantly imagines conspiracies against Tesla, but the testing to hear did was total BS. Why not run one with

On the one hand you have an EV pissing contest for acceleration. On the other the Big 3 are in a 'whose got the biggest diesel codpiece' war, and have been for years. Amps or ash, take your pick.

He's a perfectionist and super competitive, he wants his car to be the best, period. Top gear didn't have the Tesla at it's most powerful setting and they were caught, obviously Musk would be pissed if the results were tainted.

Here’s the thing: Tesla 0-60 numbers have been tested many times, with Vbox and dragy results. Tesla hits its numbers. Top Gear is the only one off by this much.

Fair point, but I think that it has to do with a few basic things:

LOL...former FR-S owner here, and she was judgy as hell about that car while I owned it. She called it my mid-life crisis. To put it politely, she did not appreciate the firmness of the ride. So she was thrilled when I told her I was getting a “grown-up” Accord. However, when she saw the color I chose, she was aghast

Yup. Funny how Jalopnik will call out the guy who commutes in an empty F150 but not the guy driving around by himself in a Mustang GT. They both get a pretty similar gas mileage, 18 combined for both.
