I'd understand more of what I heard then I let on ;) I worked with a few research physicians in graduate school, dealing with their paperwork and parsing their data as second job to pay the bills.

Not gonna lie, my favorite doctors have been the ones that talk to me the second way. The one who directed me to the primary literature to read up on a procedure we were considering. The one who sent me my biopsy report because he was sure I wanted to read it, and actually talked statistics with me.

I should tsk at you for implying that physicists don't speak human.....but we don't. Carry on.

Best idea ever.

You wouldn't believe how many times I've said pretty much that same thing. Like, dammit, a juvenile giggle fit is not appropriate for when I have my office door open!

I work at a college that uses gmail. I once got one of those emails from a former student. I recognized it for what it was, but it would be so easy to screw up a lot of people here.

You have to have a concept of something to have a concept of its absence. Or else what is it? Now I'm going to spend the rest of the night trying to figure out a non-philosophical definition of nothing...and I think I'm going to fail.

That would make more sense - I'm US-based, and there's a good deal going on here at least.

I'm a theorist. Spin transport in ferromagnets.

Even theorists.

For the record, condensed matter employs plenty of PhD physicists. ;)

I love that you cared enough to think about that zero.

That expression is priceless.

Bo sounds just adorable, and I love that picture. <3

The husky-shepherd mixes are amazing. Mine was really laid-back - he and my lazy teenage brother were quite the pair.

So much PI. <3

*sigh* I know. It scares me, the trend. Almost 70% of college educators are now off the tenure track. I can't even read the AAUP statistics anymore without practically hyperventilating.

Best thing I've seen today.

OMG Kosh gif! <3

Seconded.
