I’ve been running my stock 6v starter on my 12v converted CJ2A for going on 10 years. Last year, the spring broke, but the windings are all great. I wouldn’t run it for more than a few seconds, but it always starts right up, so I never have to.

They actually make a Toyota starter adapted to the Go Devil bellhousing. They run $200 or so

Umm Lifted Diesel Ford Excursion!!!

Triggered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m no bean counter exec, but this article is exactly why I’m not excited about the Ranger. My dream Ranger has the following attributes:

Revenue Generation made easy. Thanks a lot, Ford!

My dad’s ‘14 Ecoboost F150 4x4 gets 16. All the time, no matter what. Just 16. Burning rubber, 16. Driving like an old man, 16. Always just 16 MPG.

Remember the Ford campaign from a few years ago where Ford tried to claim that the F-150 was tougher because they used longer bolts to attach the bed to the frame? I like the F150, and the Chevy but jeez!

I want a new Ranger that is pretty much exactly like the old one. Legitimately small, 4 Cylinder w/ Turbo 4 or V6 option, 4wd option, manual tranny, manual windows, etc. I want a cheap, simple, durable truck to do truck things, not a $50k monstrosity luxury car wannabe. Will it happen? No, but I can dream.

That Ranger better be an actual small truck like the old one. Not some almost F150 sized thing like the Toyota/GM counterparts. I want to someday buy a new, small truck, dangit! Also, how do I get ‘pending’ status removed on this thing?

It is basically the same car, but I’ve always wanted the orange Pontiac G8. Damn fine looking thing!

Excellent article! I think I’d even like to see some model differentiation. I wonder if manufacturers will do with the midsize truck Segment what Toyota has done with its Highlander and 4Runner. A smooth, comfortable quad cab unibody pickup a-la Ridgeline for people who occasionally pull a light trailer and go on a

Lander Native here! YAY!!!

Didn’t Jeremy Clarkson go on the Internet and find ... this, all over Series 11 or so?

Behold! The 1984 Toyota. Were it not for the endemic bed-rust that ALL of them have. Damn chicken tax. But really, all small trucks are awesome!

I hope we get real small trucks. Not the oversize midsize things we get now. I mean, the current model Tacoma is bigger than the T100 was. I want a new small truck. Like 1985 Hilux small Datsun 720 small. Chevy Luv small. Ford Courier small. Even old Ford Ranger small.

Art Dealer? Hardly a credible source. I’d be more inclined to believe a Whale Biologist.

The carwash where I live has high pressure wash and rinse in a wand. That’s it. Drive-through washes are at least an hour away.

I rarely wash either of my cars (an ‘84 Toyota Pickup and a ‘47 Willys CJ-2A) for fear that the mud and rust holding it together will be washed out of it. My wife’s highlander gets taken to the scrubber a few times a year. When you live in a town with more dirt streets than paved, trying to make your car spotless is a
