I'd be interested to see how the appetite for depressing or challenging media correlates with overall political or personal instability in any given era, to see if this puts paid to the personal theory I hold: that in safe but dull times, people reach for challenging media, and vice versa.

For me at least, I get enough exposure to how shitty and dreadful the world and humans are capable of being just by opening a newspaper or checking social media. I don't need more nihilism and pessimism rubbed in my face by entertainment media.

A tabby is just a coat pattern though - you can easily have a tabby who's a mutt! Point taken though. :)

Fried chicken is; friend chicken not so much. Unless OP has edited the typo?

"Friend chicken"? I think you're talking about Miss Fame.

No, chaffing, which is when one rubs oneself down with a chaffinch. Absorbent!

On the other hand, for someone with social anxiety it can be pretty liberating, knowing that you never have to see someone again. It means that their opinion of you doesn't matter, and it's okay if you screw up and do something weird or wrong. Mix that in with alcohol as well, and Arnold's motivation is
