When did I ever say anything about court? Courts enforce unreasonable laws all the time, and all it does other than needlessly punish citizens is shake faith in the entire legal system. When people don’t have faith in the system it hurts all of us.

Because everyone follows speed limit signs, right? Try again.

That’s not what I meant. Parking restrictions are often arcane or poorly-signed with no clear need for such restrictions. This leads to confusion on the behalf of drivers, especially visitors to the area, which results in unnecessary parking tickets.

Parking illegally doesn’t always mean you’re parking like a dick. Often it’s the parking restrictions which are unreasonable.

But if it does start as a bill in the senate then each state will have an equal number of votes on that bill... you’re going in circles here.

Did you pay attention in civics class? The senate is the primary body of Congress in foreign policy matters, and in order to ensure all states are represented fairly in foreign policy matters (in part, there are other reasons too) the senate is organized to give all states equal representation regardless of

I never said it was? Just that I personally benefit hugely from high gas prices and those aren’t coming back any time soon. I certainly don’t think that what is good for me personally is automatically good for all of America, that would be insane (hint, hint).

You’re delusional if you think Americans buying inefficient vehicles is going to have much of an effect on global oil prices. I’m not saying that people shouldn’t buy fuel efficient vehicles, this is a personal choice, just that gas prices are going to stay relatively low in the near future whether people buy

Wow, this is an advanced level of statistical ignorance on display. Even if your basis fact is right your conclusion couldn’t possibly be true.

Between democrats, agricultural states, and southern states with rapidly growing manufacturing sectors that’s a big coalition to overcome. Also Michigan which is the heart of the auto industry benefits hugely from a strong automotive sector and manufacturing small cars in Mexico is very beneficial to that end.

You give people too much credit. Plenty of otherwise knowledgeable people legitimately don’t understand the tragedy of the commons.

Except that’s not how it works, collective bargaining benefits all workers. You can’t simply improve working conditions for some workers without improving them for all workers at a given facility.

Do you seriously not realize that cars are not going to last forever?

Any congressman in a district with a strong manufacturing sector will understand the value of exports to their base. Especially in agriculture (i.e. throughout the GOP base), food exports are one of America’s strongest exports. Cancelling NAFTA will hurt American agriculture exports disproportionately to other sectors.

The problem is that unions only work when everyone participates. If dues were not mandatory then one guy could decide to not pay and still not lose any of the benefits since the rest of the company is still union. And then another guy stops paying, and another, and another...

As if the military is going to let Trump anywhere near the nuke button...

I think you’re looking at it wrong. Someone who will vote because Miley or Beyonce told them to would probably have voted for hilary anyways, that is if they even bothered to vote. Celebrities really only effect voter turnout not voter choice, surveys have shown most moderate voters (die-hards on either side don’t

It’s a Macklemore song about accepting homosexuality. It’s sappy and emotional and it really just has the wrong tone for casual listening which is like 90% of Macklemore’s fanbase. Nothing wrong with that it’s just that the song has been so overexposed by virtue signalling media outlets that everyone got sick of it.

What sucks the most is never feeling anything at all. Pain is temporary but apathy just doesn’t go away on its own.

Baseball is perhaps the sport most rooted in tradition, and you’re complaining because you think your club is above that tradition? I guess that’s one way to spin the fact that White Sox fans weren’t intelligent enough to think of this on their own.
