I may have been a bit too nice about NBC, but “not screwing up as bad as Fox” goes a long way. He was starting from 2nd place for the next race. He stopped in 2nd place grid spot and, just before he was hit, you can see his car start to wiggle. Most probably he decided to lay rubber down the track for a better start and to heck with the marshall’s recommendations.
He was stopping by his grid slot for race two to lay down some rubber with a burnout. You can see his car get all squirrely just before he gets hit.
