You may be right, I vaguely recall reading about the development and running a full new IMSA top flight entry being around $100mil. Extrapolating from that a hypercar being $200-$250mil so you definitely save a hundred million singular but maybe not plural - I didn’t want people to think i was being hyper(car)bolic..…

The “engine swap” he’s referring to is the new IMSA DPi top class which will now be able compete against the hypercars at LeMans etc. That is based on a stock LMP2 type chassis with the manufacturer’s own powerplant, some custom bodywork and an off the shelf KERs unit.

This was doomed from the start because hypercars are not meant to be race cars.
