“While StarCraft and Brood War told stories of people struggling against one another, StarCraft II tells a story of people struggling against pure evil, which is not nearly as interesting. There is no nuance here, just a Big Bad who must be defeated with the power of teamwork and plot contrivances.”

This. So. Much.

I haven’t played SC1/BW’s campaign in a very long time, but I remember absolutely loving the stories it told — Mengsk’s betrayal, Kerrigan’s revenge, Tassadar’s sacrifice, the drama between Stukov and DuGalle, etc. SC2 doesn’t hold a candle to any of that.

Right. That’s why stories about someone ending all galactic life are so boring. Mass Effect is compelling because of its character relationships, not because of the damn Reapers.

Heh. I like boob-plate as much as the next straight white shitlord but that looks ridiculous.

that sucks... I got the PC version on Steam early.

I dunno about that time scale, but once driverless cars are effective and ubiquitous, it’s going to be hard to keep humans in the picture. Thirty thousand people a year die in car crashes. If you could shrink that number to 1000, I think legislators will be all over it.

Don’t think any of us (or not many of us anyway) who play WoW find the combat particularly deep or interesting. You learn your rotation, you maybe adapt it depending on certain situations (Unless you’re a Retadin) and you kill the boss. The challenge in boss fights comes much more from mechanical skills like movement

Modern AI is RAM dependant rather than processing power as modern AI techniques involve large behavioural trees (which used to be accomplished with multi-inheritance, now we do it via component programming) and state tracking, the actual processing is just crawling over the possible states that the AI could be in.

They aren’t totally wrong though. The look of combat is a bigger deal than most people think it is when it comes to whether or not the combat “feels” good.

overhauling raid bosses animations too

For mobs and PVP, sure combat could use some changes.

Re: E. I cannot imaging having multiple kids to ferry around to sports and clubs, etc. on top of working full time and housework (fucking hockey? 4:30 fucking am practice???). It’s just madness, or at least that’s how I view it. I never had kids, but I am kinda waiting things out on the other side for a couple of

Sorry to break this for you but the cgi cinematics have always been outscourced.

Yea but if they outsource it it will be terrible, the 90% of the orcs in the Warcraft trailer say hi.

I’m surprised the news was met with mixed reaction; I would think more people would be suffering from F2P fatigue by now. I’ve thrown a good amount of money over the years into F2P games like LoL and Hearthstone; I’m ready to go back to paying a reasonable retail price to get the “full experience” of a game instead of

That is what a lot of people said about WoW. 10 years later still kicking Subscriptions.
