As a technician, keep doing that 1mph rolling shift. I love rebuilding broken planetaries. A hard stomp on the throttle burns the friction plates, shifting from reverse to drive whole rolling breaks the hard parts.

Europe’s taxing models for consumer vehicles would have saved us from the huge suv and truck onslaught.   Those vehicles would simply be unaffordable to own.

Ah back in the good ‘ol times when America was truly great!

I went to a motorcycle safety class about 10 years ago. At the start of day 1, they told us to put on all the safety equipment we brought to ride that day, then try to touch any exposed skin to the walls around the classroom. Any skin that touches, you lose in a motorcycle accident. Guy in the bowl helmet next to me

Let’s not forget how bad these were when they came out.

Police chief in my small city of 60k makes $325k per year. Most of the regular cops are pulling in $120k. They make upwards of $200k at the end of their career (in their mid 50s), then spend the last 3 years working a shit ton of OT so that there pensions are inflated based on those last few years of total pay. Then

I give police officers all the credit in the world

Agree about the headline but not much else.

I get your point, but if you’re not financially responsible I think we tossed out the whole “making sense” thing, which is the problem. Plenty of people obviously need a car for work but I’d wager the % of pseudo luxury or better optioned cars being purchased is also at a high...coincidental I think not!

We could, I dunno, have limits on the width, length and height of non-commercial vehicles.

In terms of raw depreciation in dollars, a new Mirage for $12k has to have the lowest potential depreciation of any car on the market. Even with 100k on the clock 10 years from now, there will be a floor for a running car of at least a few grand. You basically can’t ever lose more than $10k by owning one of these.

NO! we all know who the man Is. 3 Men and a Baby, Short Circuit, and the list goes on. Don’t harang us with such a clicky title.

I mean, for Connecticut, this is a step in the right direction, given they probably used to just hunt poor people for sport.

I get that it’s fun to point and laugh at the rich guy complaining about $9, but the issue he raises seems legitimate. His residence, his car, and his kids are all outside of the congestion zone but because of how the streets are laid out he has to briefly drive into the congestion zone when going around the block in

The math is there for anyone willing to consider it: it took $33K in repairs and maintenance to carry this Disco to 233K miles. The next owner will be the next line in the equation.

Holy shit 3 of those pieces of shit. This guy must be a millionaire*

Not abandoned, but finally started and very slow moving. Painting my wheels. This is going to take awhile because I’m lacking facilities. Cleaning and degreasing in the bathtub. Wet sanding and filling indoors or on balcony, weather permitting. Primer, color coat, clear coat, either on balcony with a makeshift

Give up?  No man 2025 is my year.

The cruise with the gas engine is one of the worst cars ever produced.  How does this stack up compared to the gas in terms of reliability?

Sure sure. Well, now I’ll replace that terrifying picture with another even more terrifying thought of the three of them together at once.
