Up here in Maine, along a stretch of about 5 miles of route 236, some beautiful genius put up signs along both sides of the road. About every 100 - 200 yards, there would be a small sign with simple lettering: “George Floyd”, “Tamir Rice”, etc. for MILES. Dozens of signs. On the back of each sign it said

She was, first and foremost, a white lady from southern California. She had no idea she could be hurt by the police.

You’d think that a US soldier would know what the consequences of storming congress while congress people are in it would be. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes and all of that. The most emotion I can muster up for her is “The fuck did she think would happen?”

Does she get 72 virgins? cause that would be kind of a bummer because they are really not that good at the sex.

Not only that she was scrambling over a makeshift barricade set up by the cops to protect the area where the congress people were locked down sheltering in place. She was climbing the barricade to go through a window and get into that second space. There was a mob behind her that would have followed her in.

I knew these terrorist would try for martyrdom for this woman. Under no circumstances is this the same as the many women of color that have died at the hands of LE.

I’d like to congratulate the terrorists from yesterday’s events for succeeding where the actual Confederate Army failed and getting the battle flag of the insurrection into the halls of the US Capitol. They made history.

Now playing

All that went down yesterday and only 1 person was shot. I was watching those maniacs bashing on the doors of the Capitol (NOT CAPITAL...If I see one more person spell it that way) and thinking, had that been all Black folks doing that, they would have went out like the 54th charging on Ft. Wagner in Glory...

First thing I said when they breached the doors was “these people have an alarming lack of bullet holes.” Not that state violence is always the answer, but sometimes it is.

Didn’t you read the article? They had frickin’ tunnel vision from people yelling at them! It doesn’t matter that they were yelling “that guy just shot three people!!!”, it was tunnel vision!!!!!!!

White, nerdy men on Wall Street brought our nation’s economy to its knees, wiped out jobs, destroyed the housing market, and escaped consequences.

And my other boys are probably gonna look like nerdy white guys.”

Hi Emily - Deadline/West Wing link is going to guardian article

You need to recheck your links for the McCloskey story, your Sorkin report and your suburban housewife Politico piece, for starters. They’re mis-linked, and I would’ve contacted you privately outside of this forum if I had some way to do it.

Some serious movie magic performed on those two for their 15 minutes.

Yes, it’s a good point, but I was holding back on going there because she’s 15. Even if she’s “in” on it, that’s really young and has more to do with fucked up parenting than her own intrinsic character flaws. And even if she’s totally sincere, she has a lot of learning to do. As I said on another thread, begging AOC

you can go one step further and assume she’s the third corner in the triangle and a willing participant. no one would care about her if her parents weren’t famous right wingers who already had some drama going on, and this isn’t going to hurt her parents’ careers because the kind of people who’s a fan of either of

I think her parents are 100% fine with her doing this because it makes them looks bad and it gets the whole family attention. Kellyanne and George have raised their own profiles significantly through the political-disagreement-family-drama circus. I applaud this teen for speaking out for what it right, but it also
