I've found that a bit of toothpaste works better than shaving cream. I use about an amount about the size of a pea and rub it on the mirror twice a week or so and it keeps the mirror completely clear. I'm not sure if the gels work, though, because I use the classic paste.

You say the camera opening is at the top right but the hole is on the lower left corner. We all know what you mean, but you need to be consistent because, clearly, they are on the same side.
