Except that this case is about specifically trying to get a Trademark - and the ignorance of Americans is part of the law as to if something is trademarkable.

The big difference is Champagne is not being protected as a trademark - it is being specifically protected by law - 26 U.S.C. §5388.

If the pictures in the story are accurate, then this is just stupid - with the way those VR headsets are on, the cow is not going to see anything useful - whatever it is seeing would at best be out of focus and out of sync.

So because he didn’t want to cop to anything serious, he should be thrown in prison and throw away the key?

Yes minimum sentences suck, but they wouldn’t be as much of a problem if we didn’t have the standard prosecution overcharging to make it so that you are EXTRA punished if you actually demand your right to have your day in court.

Statute of limitations is tolled (the clock does not run) while the  accused is a fugitive from justice. So basically as long as the govt can show that D.B. has remained in hiding to avoid prosecution then he basically can never come forward.

Remember that $40/gallon is right around $8/750ml, so that would not actually be that much (given that a 750ml of Jack tends to retail around the $17-$20 range...)

One thing to remember about Michelin stars in the USA. The only restaurants that can even possibly get stars are in Chicago, New York, Washington DC, and California.

Will only apply to about 700 - for now. The tax won’t bring in nearly enough to cover how much they want to spend, but once they have the tool ready to use they can just keep lowering the bar...

Of course, most states don’t even allow 85 octane gas at the pumps.

Actually, if you are going to refer to police forces as “military” then the US police would go to #4, as the Chinese police has a higher budget than the Chinese military.

Meanwhile they keep making the seats narrower.

I remember Hyundai offering a great deal on the lease of an Ioniq EV - and I wound up talking to a number of dealers in the area vie email to find out that not only did they not have any in stock, but that Hyundai flat out refuses to let any dealer in the state even order them. Even if I wanted to buy one straight up,

Perhaps AOC should take a look at history - congress has been doing this for decades (look at Obamacare that was passed and signed into law before any human being could have read it.)  if she has a problem with it perhaps she should put forth a bill to fix it - lots of states require a bill to actually be read out

Movies? Where the 12 hours workday is considered standard? I would argue file crunch time is even worse than programming crunch time.

There’s a dude serving life in Angola right now for stealing a pair of hedge clippers.

I think the closest you get in recent memory would be Jimmy Carter - but he was also a lowsy president - a wonderful diplomat, has done a lot as a ex-president, but in the office he was pretty much ineffectual.

I actually considered getting a Hyundai electric car - then I found out that Hyundai refuses to to provide pure electric cars to any dealer in the state of Arizona.

California can ‘t even keep the power on reliably now, and you want to force all cars to be electric (never mind how many people have no place they can charge an electric vehicle?)
