But does a non-sentient being, even a very intelligent one, really "know" anything? Does a sentient being "know" things on a level that a non-sentient being doesn't? Is there anything that separates the two, besides self-awareness?

He is a puppet, but one that can see the strings.

You know, I've always been a defender of Kira/Odo, as I thought that the unrequited stuff in earlier episodes worked so well, & I always assumed that there HAD to be some resolution. But your suggestion would have made for a better, more fulfilling ending.

"Data's Day" is a quintessential Data episode, IMO. Also, "The Inner Light", "Relics", & "Chain of Command (both parts, but especially part 2)" are the best episodes in the series, for very different reasons.

I would argue that the Minbari religion was developed over the course of the series by being proven to be REAL. The Vorlons figure heavily in the Minbari's beliefs, & they periodically show up to do amazing things. And then Valen shows up from the future (spoilers!), & kicks off the whole "Minbari not of Minbari"

To be fair, that was Data's episode (it's literally called "Data's Day"), & the writers had no plans for O'Brien or Keiko beyond that point, so they we like "Sure! Why not?" At that point, both of the spouses were disposable, & they served their purpose in the plot: giving Data something to talk about concerning human

Wasn't this review about a DS9 episode? I coulda swore we were talking about Sisko's show…

I've read a fic where Troi was slashed with Picard, Data, Wesley, AND Q (among others), & that STILL made more sense than Threshold did. Threshold is the Celebrian of Voyager episodes.

There wasn't a single pairing on that show that made sense to me. Chipotle/Seven? Paris/Torres? Neelix/Kes? Nobody worked, & the writers just kept hammering away at the bent nails, rather than do the sensible thing & try some other ships. It's baffling to me how the writers of every modern Trek show tend to botch

The children of that community are warriors in the Team Edward/Team Jacob conflict. They tend to get distracted by sparkles & congealing blood.

Yeah, I love that Garak is good enough of a spy/assassin/saboteur that we don't bat an eyelash at his ability to craft a bomb that 1) kills everyone onboard, 2) leaves evidence behind that it was sabotage, 3) leaves behind a damaged data rod, 4) goes undetected for days, & 5) leaves no trace of Cardassian or

That's a damn good theory. Remember, Vreenak is a senator, with a few
bodyguards & a tiny shuttle. How does he detect that a Cardassian
data rod is a faaaake? He doesn't. He just uses his Romulan suspicion to
call Sisko's bluff.

Okay, I did not mean to watch that all the way through… twice. I just wanted to see the finger-snapping. But it's hard to close a window when it's on fire.

I wouldn't say that Sisko was Garak's tool, really. The whole plan was orchestrated, overseen by, & "financed" by Sisko. He just forgot that Garak is a Cardassian, & the Cardassian "hats" (if there is such a thing) are wheels-within-wheels strategizing & ruthless efficiency. Garak was still Sisko's tool, but Garak

Here's the Memory Alpha article on that novel:

Sarah Connor?

Best. Comment. Ever.

Ouch! That's gotta sting. Even Nog's probably directed an episode. Damn.

Also, I've heard it said that Kes's actress, Jennifer Lien, was allergic to her latex ear prosthetics, which is why she got long hair towards the end. But she was dissatisfied with her role on the show & wanted out anyway, so we got Catsuit of Boobs.

Believe it or not…
