Yeah, you are immensely overestimating the influence this site would have had on sales in general. The average person isn’t paying the slightest attention to news sites (or blogs, in this case) or JKR in general, and the Harry Potter universe already had a massive fan base. I don’t believe Kotaku would have swung the

I love how this “news” article is totally full of opinions. Rather enjoyed the Harry Potter game and quite a few of my friends also did. Can’t wait for the sequel to come out so it can totally burn people again when it sells like crazy.

Re-reading Kotaku’s review of the game- outlining how terrible it supposedly is, and the long debates around it in the comments section is hilarious in light of the fact that the game is actually well liked and apparently a lot of fun- is pretty hilarious these days. Kotaku’s obsession with messaging over actually

She’snot a piece of shit. Stop with the childish NONSENSE.

Let's be honest: the anti-Rowling crowd is composed of ignorant morons looking for a reason to feed their anger addiction.

Yet everyone here will continue burying their heads in the sand and insist that the twittersphere is indicative of reality.

Even coming into this article I knew Kotaku wasn’t going to be too thrilled about this news. Hogwarts Legacy got overshadowed by TotK, BG3, Spider-Man 2 and Starfield in the news. But it was still critically acclaimed by critics and sold like candy.

And sites like Kotaku helped immensely to boost those HL sales. You know that, right?

I rather enjoyed it, the coverage of it was a nightmare but the actual game’s pretty good they nailed the look and setting of being a Wizard in Hogwarts.  I’d certainly play it over any COD game.  Microsoft should make COD FTP and sell battle passes and skins, clearly they don’t give a crap about making a good

Released in February 2023, Hogwarts Legacy wasn’t a hit with critics and ended up not winning many major awards.

Most critics who reviewed the game in good faith gave it a decent score. We get it you wanted the game to fail

Yeah sure, 84/85 metacritic but “wasn’t a hit with critics” 😄

I really liked it, it was fun and very pretty, and it was clearly made with love for the source material and franchise. As someone that grew up with the books, and then the movies as they came out, it was a fun open-world romp for about 40-50 hours, I got my money’s worth.

It may not have been VERY good, but it was PRETTY good, controversy aside.

Ughh all you want, but Ewoks and memories of the Ewoks carried the Star Wars franchise through most of the ‘80s and ‘90s until new content was being created again. If you don’t pander to the younger generations you won’t have any future fans to keep your franchise going. Also, it’s not his fault he’s a scene

What’s the point of a movie if the episodes are an hour long?  It’s just two episodes smushed together... ... ...

Just like comics they have a fan base that is never happy with anything new, but it’s hard to figure out what is good or not because they shout everything different down while another half of the fanbase is vocally upset about too much fan service. It seems like a can’t win but they all make a bunch of money so in

i mean that’s gotta be a temp title, right?

They messed up the title. The biggest star gets top billing. Grogu is so important to the success of this show that they tried to write him off and then had to bring him back via another show. Read the room and play to your strengths y’all: The people want their Baby Yoda!

At least before 9 we had a sliver of hope that they knew what they were doing with an overarching story.”
