I just love the implication that Microsoft is somehow more devoted to money than other large computer companies.

I’m sure Microsoft was really aiming to convert the “still puts a dollar sign in place of the S in Microsoft” demographic too.
A lot of console optimization is the result of only having one hardware standard to work with for the lifespan of a console’s life (with some minor exceptions.)
It’s even more complicated by the fact that many of the TOOLS and dependencies that people end up using are fan created as well. We already saw this problem last time when one of the mods used a free dependency that wasn’t cool with being included with a pay for mod.
The last time I played Skyrim I had over two hundred mods. If even a fraction of them cost a few dollars each, I’d quickly exceed the cost of the game. And there’s no quality assurance checks in place, and no mechanism to let me try them out (which I definitely did on the way to building up to that many mods.)
The difference in power usage between those two chips was what amazed me. That FX processor has a 220W TDP, compared to the i7’s 84W. I’m pretty sure there’s a marked difference between Radeons and GeForce cards in power consumption too. Can’t say I envy the power bills with AMD builds.
I’m kinda curious what kind of mods will even be possible on consoles. Anything that requires script extenders is out, and most of the more complex UI/gameplay mods use them (not a new trend either, external script extenders go all the way back to Morrowind.)
Only if you care enough about OSX to have it be a competitive advantage in the first place. Personally I’d take a discrete video card over OSX pretty much every time. The fact that they’re increasingly cost-prohibitive options on any Mac doesn’t help either.
So far I’m enjoying it. Hoping not to rush it though, not sure when I’ll have another PS4 game I really want to play for awhile after.
The fact that one can comment on here at all would surely make the comparison obviously false, wouldn’t it?
We’re talking about the use of “erotic” in the article, which specifically refers to how the series started, not what the new entry is.
It’s been confirmed for months, and the import worked on it too.
It’s not 06. Koji Igarashi left in 2014, the main Castlevania series hasn’t seen an entry since 2009, and the recent 3D spin-offs were handled mostly by a third party currently working on a Metroid prototype.
I don’t know, how relevant is Metal Gear Solid to those grandpas? It seems shortsighted either way. One way they’re banking on a form of gambling most popular with an aging demographic, and the other they’re hoping to rope in a new generation using characters from video games they’ve just killed the division that…
The long term potential is endless. Surely people will care about Contra decades after the last video game has come out.
It’s about as simple as a tactical rpg can get, honestly. More a visual novel than anything.
I get the impression that Japanese developers haven’t committed much to the PS4 yet, if the Japanese PSN store is any indication. The Vita on the other hand, well it’s just about the only country that does seem to care for that.
Yeah, it seems very shortsighted. Even if it works in the short term, how long will the IPs be relevant with no games to back them?
I have to wonder who came up with the wonderful idea that they could attract young people to pachinko by both killing their video game business and then branding their machines with characters who stand to only exist as pachinko branding as a consequence of the first action.
I got mine for the eventual Persona 5 release. That’s turned out well so far.
