I can conceed that. The prequels were more original. But they were terribly directed, terribly acted in (because they were terribly directed), the special effects weren’t very special, some (most) of the characters and plots where poorly thought and and constructed.

Why I hate the prequels in two words;

I literally do not know anyone who thinks the prequels, collectively, were good. Not one. Some defenders of Eps. III occasionally, but in a “not that bad” kind of way, as opposed to “good.”

And when taken in combo with Eps. I and II, the universal opinion I ever encounter is that the prequels were shit.

Disney and Abrams did on their first attempt out of the gate what he couldn’t do with all three prequel films, they made us care even more about the Star Wars universe than we did before.

I liked them. But they’re not good. Episode II, especially, is atrocious.

I’m not one to defend George Lucas usually, but you have to look at one thing from his perspective. The Force Awakens is a huge hit. It’s fun and while it might be a fan service film to a large degree it also gave us some new characters that we’ve instantly fallen in love with and new worlds to explore and basically
