I used to do a update every 2-3 generations, but my previous system there was nothing it couldnt at least run at 1600x1200 after over a decade, game demand is slowing right down, I only upgraded because of a need for more ram and disk space.
Dang, that could not have been an easy decision. Bailing on a hotel/venue contract is hella expensive. I would have honestly not blamed them if they just did one last event there to save themselves from taking that financial hit.

You say “console gamers playing on regular TV speakers or something” like it’s some rare category, rather than the most common category of player of the game. It’s a GOOD thing if the game is designed for a normal person who buys it.

As somebody who remembers the comic book and sports card crashes in the 90s, I see the same trends with all of the random TCGs coming out that market themselves as an investment first and an actual game second. The bottom will fall out at some point, and a lot of stores/people are going to get burned.
