I understand their perspective and for a movie like this, it’s wrong. This movie isn’t about being a technical masterpiece or even being super original. It’s about having pure stupid fun and the AvClub reviewers (and a couple on this site) rarely get that.

The “formula” episodes are there to allow for organic growth of the relationships between the Omega and the rest of the Batch.

AvClub tends to be joyless and forget that movies are supposed to be enjoyable. It’s movie reviews by people that have watched so many movies that they can only see the technical pieces and not the whole.

It’s not a rental.  It’s a purchase... as long as you have Disney+ 

The movie/script does not pretend at all that the laws of physics apply to the cast.  It specifically points out and laughs at how they do, absolutely, NOT.

Look, I’m not defending the behavior, but one contract acquired as part of the business purchase isn’t the same as the new/active one that they likely negotiated with him for the current work. 

100% agree.  And, it happens all the time.  Major corporations often take the tack of making those they owe money to come to them asking for the money (or wait until the absolute last moment to pay).

They can’t. That’s part of the risk of buying a company, that it’s obligations and debts could drag you down.

Give your local Barnes & Noble a try. One of my local ones moved their cards all behind the counter and won’t let anyone buy more than one of single line.  Caught them out of the corner of my eye and was able to get my kids a Battle Styles booster packs after weeks of looking for anything.

Veraxus’s take on the message is most definitely closer to what Pixar intended than Charles’s is. If you’re expecting a in-depth exploration about jazz and blackness you’re going to be disappointed, b/c the movie is framed by these themes, but not about them.
