This is pretty fair. I have a ‘17 outback and my mom just got an ‘18 forester. I had a real hard time explaining to her what the actual difference is between them.

That is surprisingly nice looking. Never really looked at the Kia vans, but that interior has definitely put them on my radar
This seems like a misstatement of the problem. Now I might be missing something here, but I would assume that on EVs the holding power of the vehicle when in park is pretty much exclusively the electronic parking brake, which is obviously not exclusive to EVs. I’d be surprised if they put a parking pawl on a direct…
Super stoked for the range of EVs to start hitting my admittedly very specialized use case. I live in NYC and street park. I use the car mainly to go to our house in VT on the weekend, a 225mile one way. The wife is not up for making a long drive longer by charging on the trafficky VT bound trip every time. While…
First time in a loooong time I’ve been presented with a car I didn’t know existed. CP, but interesting.
These cars don’t size the battery around the power, but around the range and charging speed (in miles/hr). Having a motor support 1000hp out of a 100kWh pack is bit of a “might as well” exercise, as the hard and expensive part of the proposition, the battery, was already taken care of to provide the range that car…
They are a phenomenal deal, but certainly not the best or lightest trailers in the world. I was very happy to spend ~$100 for a weekend to tow my Miata from NJ to VT, a 600 mile round trip, but the fact that trailer + NA Miata gets close to the 5k lb rating of the factory hitch on my LX470 is pretty crazy.
Damn, did not know about the annual tax in Maine. Fair point. Most states have that rule, but with close neighboring states you’ll rarely get any trouble for it(I’ve had NJ plates in NY for over a decade). If there is significant tax revenue involved then I am not surprised it’s different for Maine.
True enough, but the whole Northeast is like that.
Yep, between the out of state registration ability, no title necessary after 15 years, and the self-serve 60 day temp reg/plate that you PRINT OUT YOURSELF for $6, VT is the most car-guy friendly state in the Northeast.
All of these will just end up with VT plates...
Finally at the point of needing to resole my Corcoran Jump boots after 10 years. Can confirm.
Luckily when we bought our house in VT we were able to get fiber served to it at reasonable cost. That said, I have a friend who just bought a house in upstate NY who consulted with Spectrum about service to his house that is in a fiber area but has a long driveway. Before closing the confirmed a $300 connection cost.…
The 90k should include it, but you should be able to check on the Lexus system (google lexus service history, since links aren’t working) put in your vin and it should pull up the records. I did my TB myself last summer, it’s a big job, but doesn’t require too much in terms of special tools, and I knocked it out in a…
Don’t think your link came through, but 115k is quite low mile for these. I paid 9k for mine with 175k miles(and slammed from a rusted AHC line) and it has been great, despite not being terribly well maintained by previous owners. If it’s been maintained and isn’t rusty, go for it. Main big ticket item to look out for…
Eh, the ‘wood’ panels are from a similar year Land Cruiser, and honestly are not as nice, and the color is slightly off the rest of the trim in the car. I’m probably going to paint mine silver to match at some point if it ever bothers me enough.
Get it, you won’t regret it. I just crossed 200k on mine, and it still feels solid as a rock. Recently towed my Miata on a uhaul trailer so ~4k lbs and it handled like a champ.
For my driving, traffic aware navigation is a must, and I hate having the phone mounted high enough to be visible.
They tend to hover in the 300-600 range depending on car and specs on the unit. Got mine on Aliexpress for ~$500 with the trim pieces and a new backup camera(old was 6V). Did a similar unit in my ‘17 non-nav Outback as well which was more like $300. They can run a ton of native apps, but in my usage I typically use…
Yeah people used to lust after the unicorn 2006 non-nav 100 series as well for the same reason. They definitely make these for the GX. They aren’t perfect, and can require some fiddling to get everything set up right, but there is a pretty active community out there, and one guy in particular doing very regular…
