A lot of people are (rightfully) concerned that if Hyundai/Kia was willing to cheap out on immobilizers and fuck their customers over on fixing it, what else are they cheaping out on, and how else will they fuck over customers.

What I don’t understand is that between 2011 and 2016, Hyundais shared a lot of parts with Kias, yet they used different ignition systems? My 2011 Tucson is basically identical to a 2011 Sportage, yet the Kia is easily stolen but they Hyundai isn’t?

Those companies aren’t buying GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate trucks to haul freight. They would be buying a base model Chevy 3500 or something for half the price. This is a luxury car that can tow a small house.

Or they could leave the features intact and try to build brand loyalty, especially if other OEMs are stripping features out of used cars.
