All too often this site posts real stories about small companies getting ripped off.

Honestly, I’m inclined to think that he does understand but doesn’t care, and his idiot fans may understand or not but just go along with what he’s saying. In any case, they don’t actually care about the games or the creators, they care about flipping whatever they have for a profit. When the games were pulled from

Yeah,  he seems to not understand how “open source” software works or how licensing works with open source code.  Not a surprise since these NFT bros don’t seem to understand how IP laws work either

I have a vague understanding of the tech, but what do you mean the game will now 'live forever in the blockchain'? Am I misunderstanding what is stored in an NFT beyond transaction details?

Pretty telling that his approach was to just check the license on itch.io, not contact the creator at all, and even renamed one of the games (from “Galactic Wars” to “Rogue Fleet”). He knew that if the creators knew what he was doing, they wouldn’t allow it, so he just tried to keep them from finding out.

Yeah, the Nifty guy is a huge asshole. He spent lots of time trying to say that the games were all open source so he could do whatever he wanted with them. But even if that was true (it wasn’t) the license for the PICO-8 player, which he also distributed as part of the NFTs because it’s part of the game web player

The Knights Who Say NFT?

I’m just here for the usual, frothing at the mouth NFT knights

Also, just because Gamestop says they aren’t responsible for verifying rights of the NFT’s they totally are, they’re enabling the sale of them and they can be held liable.

Starting with flagrant fraud and theft right out the door just proves this is a real Web3 operation! HODL!

I work in a designer clothing store and we take an average of $70k a day and we’re only open 8 hours.

The real betas are the NFT stans.

Oh, fuck off with this bullshit.

…earned only an estimated $44,500…

The article mentions over a million dollars in sales. The lower number is the commission from the sales.  If you’re a real estate agent you don’t get to keep the full price of the house, you just get the commission on the house.

It’s pathetic. In fiscal year 2021 Gamestop stores did about $16.5 million in sales every day.

Well, exponential decay and exponential growth are kind of the same thing.

I love that the NFTs only pay 2.25% of their total value to Gamestop, just like it’s trade in credit

Is it just me, or is $45,000 in a day for a global chain a bit lackluster? Obviously, they’ve made some money, but does this compete at all with say... PS5 launch day...?
