First the Type R is an ..... intense car. Second I will tell you a small story from my own personal life.

Hey mate. Entirely different situation for me. But we had a kid on the way, we moved countries to be closer to family and I had to sell my beloved BMW 135i. 5 years on and we needed to get a bigger car for my wife. And I thought maybe I could use this opportunity to get something fun for me, she could have my Outback…
Been there... I had a 2012 GTI that had constant issues. When the clutch started slipping (never happened to me before) and I was looking at a $3k bill, I enlisted Tom to find me something new. Ended up with a 2019 GTI with the DSG. But the sole reason I ended up with this car and not something else is 2019 and prior…
Hey man, I’m glad that you found the right car for yourself. I picked up a 2017 Grand Touring hatch about a month ago. It’s not as tossable (not a word, but should be a word) as the 2004 Mazda 3i I once had, but it is far more sophisticated.
Great decision. I just sold my miata ND which I love. The fact that I had to teach my friend to drive stick so he could buy it actually eased my transition. I just don’t need 4 cars lying around collecting dust in a pandemic. So we are down to 2 now and soon to be 1 (my dad will take my volvo s60R).
Besides possibly…
A Leaf actually isn’t a bad idea. They’re cheap used, and the running costs are low. As long as you don’t need to drive long distances, this could help you into a house.
Hi. Regarding the Mazda 3 I’ve had a 2012 sedan version since new, and it’s been excellent. Mine’s the manual but it’s capable of being engaging when I want, calm when I want, doesn’t draw too much attention, and has been very reliable. (The only other car I’ve owned on par with the reliability was a 2000 Accord…
Do what’s right for you and your health (mental, physical, financial etc).
Good for you on both counts!
You’ve got to do what’s best for you. Best of luck, and be well! The Mazda3's a great car.
The name is Vettel.... Sebastian Vettel.
What you need to do is swap the Civic for a “cheap” Porsche, so it’ll have all the same noise and roughness, but on top of the anxiety the Type R brings you can add anxiety about it breaking down and leaving you stranded with thousands of dollars in repair bills.
Great picks.
Go with the 2013 Lexus LS 460. I'm a sedan lover. I wasn't even aware that the 2013 Lexus LS 460 was available in AWD.
2021 Acura TLX would be sweet.
I 1,000% understand your situation. I had the same thing with a WRX. It was an interesting car, but only enjoyable when you were beating the hell out of it. One day driving home from work I was doing around 100 in traffic and realized the car was going to kill me.
You’re all wrong!!!
Seems like I’m late on the opinion wagon, but the Elantra GT is what I’d recommend looking at as an option. Doesn’t even have to be the N-Line, although even that shouldn’t break the bank. Plus, added peace of mind with a 10-yr 100,000 mile powertrain warranty to keep things calm for quite some time.
Congrats on identifying and confronting your anxiety trigger.
Acura TLX/RDX/MDX depending on preferred form factor. We have an MDX and it is relaxing and has awesome seats and still can be fun to drive.
