You’re not too old to like the Type R, and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.

Hot take: The Lexus RC-F is a seriously underrated car. It may be heavy but that N/A V8 sounds GREAT. If they offered one with a stick I would leap all over it (providing I had the cash of course).
Completely off topic but Otto wears his hair the EXACT same way I wear mine. The difference is I’m 24 years old...
At least for me, it’s the gears grinding. Mainly because I don’t know if I myself caused it or if the transmission is faulty. Also, just the SOUND of gears grinding... never want to hear that again.
Is anyone else noticing really bad WiFi or LTE speeds on the XS/Max? I got my XS Max less than 2 weeks ago and one of my major observations is that at work my download speeds are atrocious (I’m talking < 1 mb/s on either LTE or WiFi). My X didn’t have these issues. Reading online shows Apple looking into it supposedly…
I see that glaring stare in my rearview mirror all the time, except 70% of the time it’s a damn civilian in a black or white Explorer that I’m convinced bought it to play wannabe cop.
I know which generation ISN’T the best, and it’s the newest one.
Dealers sell used Type Rs for ABOVE MSRP - which means my NEW 2018 model I got AT MSRP actually costs less than some used CTR’s with close to 10K (or more) on the clock. I feel like Honda’s and Subaru’s can have the exception to used > new thing.
Of all the things I miss in my Type R, it’s LaneWatch. I don’t get why anyone would hate it.
In my opinion if the looks of the CTR turn you off that much you should find another brand (I hear the Golf R may be your cup of tea...). I personally hope Honda doesn’t tone down the styling or make an Acura version.
Nightmare. Fuel.
One year ago, I drove an automatic with no intention of driving a manual. I even berated them, saying they were slow and not as efficient as automatics.
This is helpful - thanks! Should I be waiting a bit before starting to lift off the clutch pedal after I select the next gear (specifically in 2nd or 3rd gears)? Some people say the revs aren’t falling fast enough (or sometimes they fall too fast...) and to slow the shift down, but I haven’t had any concisive results…
I’m now a 5-month rookie at driving stick since I bought my Type R, and I don’t stall at all anymore except for low speed parking manuevers.
Meanwhile I’m the guy who actively wanted to learn how to drive stick. No one around my age sees the point...
When it comes to cruising comfort it’s not even close, though. The Type R is stiff and loud, the Stinger GT is smooth and serene until you step on it.
Everyone complains about the looks of this car, but if a new Prius were as fun to drive as the Type R, I would buy it. I work in finance and the only thing I’ve gotten from my coworkers is heaps of praise about how cool the Type R looks. These people are twice my age.
Fair point on the other two, but I put my sunglasses in the center console or in the cubby right below the infotainment screen (behind my wireless charger).
Another good reason... so you don’t burn your hand every time you must shift gears when it’s 78 degrees or more outside. Aluminum shifters man...
This looks like Toyota’s answer to the BRZ tS - no performance really, just looks. But the BRZ tS’s upgrades are worthwhile - this, not so much.
