This is late, and I apologise if this is already up in the comments somewhere, but how could you not “Californutopia”??!!

I’m sure he’s talking about the Accord behind (hehe) our friends.

Jonathan Chait for real though! Still very embarrassed about how much I liked him as a kid, but his writing is sticky with self-apology and useless bloviating. Also Emily Nussbaum. Want to like her, but she reminds me too much of my self-righteous older sister.

Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Just wanted to offer a little wisdom that a friend of color offered me, re: your wanting to talk about race and feeling that your experiences are unappreciated/being told that your views are illegitimate and/or biased.

Thanks for this. Calling and reposting everywhere I can.

Oh my word, I love that movie with all my heart. And Tilda, ofc. But damn if that wasn’t the best monster flick produced to date.

OMG, president circus peanut! Also this just makes me more and more worried and angry. I’m struggling real hard to come to terms with the idea that despite YUUUUGE mountains of evidence of his incompetence, his having lost the pop. vote, and now this, he’s probably still gonna be elected. Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. I

Heh, it’s probably because we do (luckily) have roughly 11 months to forget about it. I’m a professional musician, and all of my music friends dread the month of December like the plague. A friend of mine even has started wearing earplugs if she has to go to a store.

Fucking is good. Fucking I can get down with. But I cannot get down with christmas tunes, I’m sorry. Even when you try to put them together, the sheer awfulness of christmas music just drags the fucking down. :(

Also, the religious charge is completely untenable, Roof confessed that the shootings were not religiously motivated, even responding to investigators who asked him if he thought his victims were “bad people” with this: “They’re in church, they weren’t criminals or anything.” That so blatantly points to the assumption

I read something in NPR’s article about this that’s had me thinking. Apparently in that taped interview with the FBI, Roof said of Polly Sheppard that he didn’t shoot her “because she was, like, looking at me.” That indicates, to me, that there’s no room in this conversation for saying “He was just a deluded psycho.”
