This interview is hypnotic, I wish it'd never stop…

Story is too complicated and pointless, action movies have to be simple and easy to follow (like John Wick or Taken for example: daughter kidnapped, father kills everybody, daughter freed). There's no need to overcook this kind of movies with intellectual ambitions…

A R-rated movie with an unknown character: budget should have been kept low…

I don't know either: Dress was fast, tight, full of great action… Why did it fail? No big brand behind, unknown character, too violent and grim… all contributing factors I think.

Dredd was great, but trying to sell to the masses a Brit comic book (virtually unknown outside the country of origin) proved to be a hard call. The movie simply costed too much.

Red State was actually good… I like when Smith remembers to be a director and not a nerd with a camera and lots of friends.

Season 3 is already on air and we're all in it.

Isn't that supposed to be a Short Circuit kind of remake?

It won't work, humor is forbidden from Chinese television… it causes distress.

Yeah, but is there anyone who actually thinks Kosinski can direct a movie?

I actually liked Alien 3: considering all the odds it has been though, I think it's rather powerful and well-made.

Well, fighting movies made by western directors in Asia and mostly using local actors. Enough to draw a comparison I think.

Alright, thanks for the clarification. So, going back to the article: there's no point in comparing a major effort such as Apocalypse and a small indie (even though made under dire circumstances), right?

Yes, but Apocalypse Now turned out to be financially and critically successful. It was One from the Heart that bankrupted Coppola.

And that's the problem, Only God Forgives isn't anywhere close to be as brilliant, rather tedious and pretentious… The Raid is definitively a better effort.

It's 1am where I'm writing from… lucidity is collapsing…

"certainly not a fiasco on the level of Apocalypse Now"
This line is so wrong I don't even know where to start, please explain it.
