We have a pretty similar garage it seems (wife has a V6 Camry for long trips, I have at least 2 Miatas at any given time). As you said, he has the 4Runner. Hate to break it to you dude (not you, the guy from the article), but your dreams of overland conversion and conquering the wilderness are going to likely be

Why not at least TRY before selling the car though? Also, dude has a 4Runner. Use that for a bit until the kids can face forward and hang on to the GTI. (Spoiler alert to OP dude: Your overland dreams are dead for a while)

try putting 2 rear facing carseats in a hatch back and see if you can still fit behind the wheel.

A few tips:

I thought this was a driving enthusiast site? the suggestions are terrible!

Keep the car you have. So many people rush out to get boring ass crossovers and other huge cars they don’t need as soon as they find out a kid is on the way. The GTI will handle 99% of all the kid hauling duties (including the stroller). I’ve managed with my one kid and a Focus just fine and my non-car guy buddy with

Wayne and Garth approve...

Here’s the thing that many people don’t consider when they compare financial math of yesteryear.

There’s a pretty apparent design defect for the manufacturer of the automated system when it doesn’t shut down if a car stops moving for any reason. Stalled, wedged on the track, whatever, there should be a check that the space is empty before it tries to move a car into that space.

Hey, a similar treatment worked for the Mustang at one point.

I do this, too, but I also tend to use it as active engine braking when I come up on a cop and realize that I’m just a hair over the speed limit. Instead of hitting my brakes and having the cop either see the nose go down, or the red lights come on, I shift down, the car slows the needed 1-3 mph almost immediately and

Fuelshark and stick on fender vents for the win everytime

Acura. Talk about a fall from the perceived very top to the land of meh and malaise.

I drove a del Sol for 14 years and loved it. (Amazing how much more reliable that car was than my 10-years-younger Wrangler, spent less time in the shop in 14 years than I have in <3 years with the Jeep). Seriously considered buying an S2000.

Honda, definitely Honda.

Also, the kid should have a car that’s theoretically relaible, the Corrado is not.

Oh! Well that sounds nice...

Pee is probably cleaner than that germ solution.
