In the USA, 144,540 people are employed in the shipbuilding business. I don’t know what the split is between the recreational ships and commercial ones, but the mean annual pay for the bottom 90% of those workers is $45k. Like any industry there are niches and exceptions.

A yacht is millions of man-hours that are being paid for, followed by a small business that can have as many as fifty full-time employees plus any additional subcontractors used for major maintenance and repair. …

I wonder how many jobs the construction, maintenance, and operation of these yachts create? I mean, some company is getting the hundreds of millions they pay right? I guess they could just sit on the cash instead...

We have superyachts docking here quite frequently and in a location where you can actually get pretty close to them - though nowhere near onboard.

They dock at private slips with professional security. And if you can afford a megayacht, you can afford to embark and disembark via helicopter when it’s already at sea. Only the poors actually walk off their yachts, ugh.

Yes, Armco barriers are really a thing. You know the steel guard rail on posts on the highway? That’s an Armco barrier. On a track they’re usually stacked to make a more significant barrier, though it’s a somewhat dated one that doesn’t usually appear on FIA Grade 1 tracks because there are better options.

And we haven’t even touched on how the emblem is the Game Cube’s, swapping its negative-space G for a P. Or how the controller is a Dollar Store Dual Sense with the trackpad fallen off.
