It was a horror/sci-fi weekend at The Bard Household.

I thought it was about Warren Buffett?

Bruce Timm - yes

Same. Tried to watch it with my five-year-old. She couldn’t get past the fact that Prince Adam and He-Man look exactly alike and yet no one can figure out they’re the same person.

Okay, I gotta admit, Army of the Dead looks pretty damn decent so far...

General Mills Monster Universe is already more successful than the Universal’s Dark Universe.

I remember watching the original movie on the local TV station’s Saturday Matinee.

Streaming:

Started the weekend off with Mortal Kombat. It was not a Flawless Victory. For a movie based on a game so rich with lore, it’s amazing that they couldn’t come up with a better story. It was convoluted, inconsistent and plagued with poor pacing and editing. In many ways, it reminded me of the old Street Fighter movie

A lot of stuff happens in ALL the Culture books. So there would definitely have to be some streamlining. But the whole “humans (or humanoids) vs the Big Bad Aliens” story would at least be familiar enough for mainstream audiences.

Never understood the hate this movie got. I liked it and thought it was a damned fine adaptation of Lem’s book.

You’d have to go with a series for the Culture novels

Danishka Esterhazy (The Banana Splits Movie) is attached to direct a remake of The Slumber Party Massacre for Syfy.

Gotta say,  Diablo II Resurrected looks a lot like Path of Exile visually. And that’s not a bad thing (but pretty ironic). Still, I’m looking forward to giving it a whirl.

The best thing to come out of Barb Wire was the “Word Up” cover by Gun.

Agreed.

“It’s not that I’m too lazy to bust out of prison, it’s that I just don’t care...”

Carvey’s one of the greats. He always finds that one little idiosyncratic beat in the impression and then ramps it up to 11.

Would be hilarious is in the next scene at the jail, Dietrich Bader was seen talking to someone in the next booth.
