Yeah, the cause and effect here are probably pretty tangled up. I’ve spent enough time in those circles (or at least adjacent to them) to know that it gets real fucking complicated one shit starts to go off the rails, and our society does not make it easy to pull out of a tailspin.

Seems strange to me that uninsured drivers would be more likely to have accidents. I know that anytime I might have reason (beyond the usual) to want to avoid being pulled over, I drive like a fucking saint. I mean, I’m a grownup now so I’ve got my shit together in terms of registration and insurance and also weed is

Ship things are really big. Like this crankshaft, which fits in a 14 cylinder engine and weighs 300 tonnes. Note the steps down to the bearings.

Still pretty mind blowing for the average Jalop, with little to no previous knowledge into the process.

involves cutting a giant hole in the hull.

Here you go:

Hybrid 4wd: 24 across the board
5.0 4wd: 16/22/19
2.7: 19/24/21
3.5 EcoBoost non-hybrid: 18/23/20
3.3: 19/22/20

The free food wasn’t actually part of the plan. They just saw what David rolled up in and thought “we should probably give this guy something to eat”.

Glad to be of a small service if I can. There are a few others here who are deserving as well. Lots of good gouge floating around this one.

Not as much as you might think, especially with those dirty turbojets rolling coal.

Ah, okay. A few years after I left Essex in Japan to come back stateside, but nice to see someone who deployed on the same boat for a change. Always a good time deploying with the 31st Meu.

Did a 31st with the Essex when she was in Japan back in ‘09 timeframe.

Don’t be coming up in here with experience and knowledge, thatz not how the interwebz work. We utilize armchair philosophy and conjecture wizards here.

“Komrade Ivan, vhat is better than ten turbojet engines?”

That goes without saying for both surface and air search radar. That doesn’t fit the bill of being “under the radar” however.

Indeed, you are correct...but “height of eye” is a thing, not to mention the target’s height above the wave-tops. Low flying aircraft well over horizon routinely show up on surface search/navigation radar sets.

Fantastic engineering by these things, especially considering the sheer size!

The reason you can’t tell them apart with Chevy and Kia badges is because those companies aren’t stupid and don’t want the corporate grille in the background of war crimes videos.

An incredibly unfortunate marque for a military vehicle.

If you stare too long into Indiana, Indiana stares back into you.

Truck manufacturers keep obsessing over 1 to 3 mpg increases, who cares? Hybrids should be able to deliver 10 to 30 mpg increases.
