Reading a travel guide for your own country is so interesting. It really highlights things that you don’t realize are unusual or unique because you’ve lived with them your whole life.

I’d be pretty offended too if someone was ruining bacon by trying to cook it in the microwave.

While that does sound good, the standard for meatloaf is just beef.

When I was 19 or 20 I was able to get a Discover card with no credit history. Props to them for that. I hardly use the card anymore because it’s 0.25% cash back on most purchases, but they have quarterly rotating 5% categories so that makes it worth keeping.

There’s no “holding out.” If police have you in custody, they can legally compel you to provide your fingerprint or look at your phone at any time.

Pretty much everywhere in the US except the east coast doesn’t have either of those, so why are you shocked they’re not well known?

Seeing a good president on the front page brightened up my day a bit.

I’m still not cool with “queer” being used as a blanket term for the entire LGBT community.

Sounds more or less like every American college town as well.

I almost always tip at places where you order the counter. Either 10% or a dollar, whichever is more.

7. Any out of context reference to Chicago (This, btw, also works for Detroit.)

Dairy Queen wasn’t a big fixture in my youth. I lived in major metro area, so DQ was low on the list of fast food options, since the hot food is slightly below your average fast food quality and I preferred real ice cream over soft serve.

Yeah I was expecting some kind of slush.

Back in my day we called sandwiches “flat Freddies.” And they cost four playin’ cards a bite!
