Did you miss the “...if one insists on judging killer whales in human terms...” and “Once you start applying human ethical standards to apex predators, things turn dark fast”? Those were in the quotes you included in this very article, right before writing “... characterizes the whole species as ‘sadistic jerks’

That seems to be exactly what the Yale writer is saying. His point was that using human frameworks to describe wild animals is pointless, but we know that Jezebel writers don’t have to read an article to summarize it!

I’m not much of a country music fan so I never really got into Garth Brooks’ music. But I’ve thought well of him since I saw him host SNL. I’m not sure why but that performance made me think that he’s probably a pretty swell guy. Seems like that was a correct inclination.

Good point! If she doesn’t make your personal dick hard, she definitely deserves to be bullied for aging or gaining weight.

I think we are at a tipping point of too many podcasts. Everyone really believes they are interesting enough to have one.

Good. I simultaneously wish these two a long, happy life independent of the British monarchy, and want them to shut the fuck up.

The most spectacular dine-and-dash in history! No one has ever seen anything like it!

Can’t imagine why someone already taking a dumb truck amount of backlash just for existing in their skin isn’t interested in piling on even more in a time and place where the only guarantee of punishment is theirs for speaking out.

It’s not a “dig” to tell a friend they’re not sweet!? I love my best friend with my whole heart, she is many wonderful things but sweet is not one of them, and she would be the first to agree!

The one argument I could offer for a breeder is if you have kids. Every year there are at least five news stories about dogs freaking out and chewing a kid to pieces. It’s statistically unlikely to be YOUR kid, but still, as a parent, you’d probably want to get the best chance of having a nice/gentle dog, and breed

Generally agreed, if you’re seriously allergic then I can understand wanting to be very sure about the breed and not taking a chance that you’re getting a dog that you’d have to give up after a week, which would be soul-destroying if you’re replacing a beloved family pet that has just passed away.

I think getting older is one thing in life no one is really prepared for.

“If Pete had done his research, he would know that there’s no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog, that at least a quarter of dogs in shelters are purebreds, and that Petfinder has listings for homeless dogs of every breed under the sun, including the one he purchased.”

I’m gay and have had more women be homophobic to me than men and I grew up in Texas. But thanks for invalidating what the poster said and straightsplaining what it’s like being queer to them and proving their point that straight people just generally say insanely stupid and insensitive shit like that, you know?

I’ve had multiple straight women say that to me in so many words. I’ve also had more homophobic behavior from straight women than straight men. I grew up in Texas and the straight men were MUCH more accepting of me than the straight women were.

If they didn’t, I do. Straight people generally say clueless, awful things all the time. It’s unfortunate, and I think it’s more rooted in ignorance than any outright hate, but it’s still true.

I disagree. I’m sure Page’s story is 100% true, but that doesn’t protect him from the hassle of a defamation case. He wanted to tell the story, but it doesn’t mean he feels like spending the next two years wasting time and money defending himself in a long, gross lawsuit.

Then you don’t know what the word assault means.

That’s also something that straight people in general say to gay people in general. Most of the gay men I know have had straight women say something similar.

Elliot Page doesn’t owe you jack shit and can tell as much or as little of his own life story as he wishes. You have to be absolutely delusional to call him craven
