The point is that if engines would be designed to take advantage of it, you would see benefits. Crank compression ratios up over 13:1 and you can downsize the engine and still produce the same power.
Honestly, 4% is well within the margin of error even for a SAE corrected dyno. I doubt you drained the tank & purged the lines, all while it was still strapped to the rollers, and while coolant/trans/oil/atmospheric temperatures where all the same.
