I would never dispute that, Ridley Scott's older films have always been next level in that regard.

Huh?
All of the seemingly simplistic elements have a purpose though, like Hudson, who represents that unchecked machismo and ends up being put into his place, subverting the idea of the big manly hero, supporting the marines as a Vietnam parallel and it allows the female characters to prove their metal. It's actually…
Besaid Island is the bessssssst.
We need more film theory references in the comments.
But so much of that can be applied to Aliens, and purposefully so, so I think it just comes down to whichever resonates with the viewer more. I've never developed an attachment for the Alien crew the way I did for the marines, their banter felt more natural and the characters felt more likable; Aliens has that human…
Didn't they initially pitch it as "Jaws in space" ?
Have we reached peak Cusack?
I wish action wasn't considered such a shit tier genre by most people, because Aliens is better than Alien for me. I like that it expands things, I love the pacing, I find the characters more memorable and I don't think it skips a single beat when it comes to thematic content and depth, as it pretty seamlessly builds…
People hate on it too much. The script is from Joss Whedon, the direction is fantastic, like some really sweet camera moves, very energetic, I think it looks great, and it's just got a lot of good b-movie type moments. Not a "good" Alien movie, but an entertaining one.

Does Grosse Pointe Blank count? Maybe if it had a bit more romance, IDK. I'd put it on my list.
That whole part took me out of the movie, it's a weird left turn for a teen rom com.
Princess Bride losing out to my least favourite PTA film is pretty disappointing but I guess you gotta concede that spot over to P&P for its classic status. TPB is at least worth a runner up though.
Why tho?
It's the classic "Let's glorify the past without actually knowing anything about it" type logic that the internet loves so much. Good for clicks and upvotes.
Seconding the Twilight Zone comparison, but more focused on technology and sci-fi.
Scooter Braun isn't even bad though…
Nothing so full of life could be bad for your health!
I knew it was a joke, Meekus, I just didn't get it right away!
