We got to see the book! I'm a little mixed on the narrator, everything he says it too on the nose, but I can't help but feel as if that's just part of a larger joke or something.
I think the aliens can be both real and a symbol. I don't really mind it as a metaphor for the audience, although it's been done before. It even kind of explains how it functions to distract Bear and allow Lou to grab the gun. The good guy has to win to appease the audience.
Touche, although you could also say it also helped usher in the modern wuxia film, along with films like Hero and House of the Flying Daggers. It certainly is a great film! I just don't find it to be the transcendent masterpiece others do, I guess.
My bad, sorry for being defensive.
Along with the quote I posted, there's also the line following it "It’ll just further establish Ang Lee’s dreamlike and poetic original as a cinematic anomaly." which seems pretty evident that the writer views Crouching Tiger as being above genre.
I'm specifically talking about Hong Kong action films, which typically have a lot of action due to martial arts being a stronger part of their culture, but also because there's often an inherent philosophy to the martial arts that makes it easier to apply dramatic themes to them.
"However, unlike the film from which it was spawned, it appears to be an
action movie set against a mythic narrative as opposed to a mythic
narrative featuring some really cool action."
The difference in target audiences also seems like a big reason to not mix them together. I doubt that your average kid watching The Avengers to see superheroes punch bad guys cares about Jessica Jones, and similarly, I imagine lots of people who are more into the Netflix shows might not care about the films.

I'm indecisive, so according to my last.fm plays:
That Ggoolldd track is catchy as hell! Definitely gonna check more of their stuff out.
I totally forgot it was on the Xbox One, thanks for the reminder! I've always wanted to play one of these space MMOs, but EVE always seemed too daunting or I couldn't meet the specs.
Bioware Morality: The Movie
Great Job, Internet! is always looking for new suggestions!
I agree. Not to mention that the whole "Krampus is gonna get popular!" logic just reeks of like, fuck, I don't wanna say "hipster bullshit" or something like that, but yeah, being worried it's going to be ruined because it's popular is lame.
Or because they like different things than you do.
This is disappointing to read :( Not unexpected though.
Yup, that does seem to handle like the Mako! Another reason I should get a PC D:
That would have actually been pretty cool. The Mako was versatile though because you could use it in the more straightforward driving segments. I think it was just that post-Halo period where everyone felt like their shooters needed vehicle segments.
