WTF Mercedes? Just call it an SUV and it’ll sell like crazy in the US. It doesn’t actually need to be an SUV. I’m pretty sure you could sell a 50lb bag of dogsh*t in the US just as long as you call it an SUV.

It’s a resale value problem, I agree that Kias are fine cars but their reputation (fair or not) can’t support the $50k price tag. Chevy had a hard time selling the SS for $46k and the SS had a Corvette engine.
That has to be one of the most boring battles of all time...sort if like a Serta mattress battling a Sealy mattress.
So two mediocre selling vehicles are rock-solid evidence that an entire category is not worth the effort? If that were the case the Pontiac Aztek should have been irrefutable proof that the crossover would never sell.
It’s not? It’s a traditional BOF SUV that hasn’t received a significant update for 10 years! It uses an ancient V6 and a 5 speed transmission. I’m not saying it isn’t a great truck, but how is it not dead simple?
At least out west where I am the market for off road capable vehicles is at least as large as that of sports cars/muscle cars judging by what I see on the road every day. As I recall, Jeep sells as many Wranglers as Ford, Chevy, and Dodge sell Mustangs, Camaros, and Challengers combined.
Bad news my friend, the new Blazer is going to be a butched-up Equinox. The Bronco however, should at least be interesting considering it is based on the Ranger.
There is a huge underserved market for people who want off-road capable SUVs. It’s the reason Jeep and Toyota can sell dead simple, cheap to manufacture SUVs like the Wrangler and 4runner for luxury car prices. It’s also the reason old SUVs (Broncos, Blazers, Landcruisers, etc) have shot up massively in value over the…
Ship to ship missiles are no problem, all we have to do is take out the tugboats used to tow the Russian rust bucket warships around.
Is the Camaro called the “Pheasant?” I can’t quite make out the text behind the giant blower. If so that’s awesome.
The difficult to read text at the top of the ad says “people are always attracted to mysterious objects” Slinky gender ambiguous celebrity lookalikes? Mysterious indeed.
That must have been back when a part time minimum wage job paid enough to cover college tuition AND living expenses. How quaint!
Cue the “but this SUV will allow Ferarri to continue building cool sports cars” in 3,2,1.
I had a Nissan Xterra of the same vintage...it needed new timing chain guides almost as often as oil changes. Not wanting to be on the hook for a $1900 repair every 10k miles, I unloaded it just prior to the warranty expiring.
Agreed, CUVs are like the ultra dorky hybrid bike Steve Carell rode in the 40 Year Old Virgin.
I’ll gladly have my pet elephant sit on your LC for half the price!
As long as it isn’t a butched up crossover I’ll be happy. It’ll increase the number of off-road capable SUVs that cost less than $50k from 2 to 3 which is progress im my book.
