So people are getting sick of paying $65k for a mid level Wrangler? I’m shocked.

This is the reason I got rid of my 2016 Rubicon. Mentally I couldn’t handle the pinstriping, dings, and knocks that came with using it the way it was intended; it took all of the joy out of off-roading. It was much easier to accept with my old, beat up 30 year old Bronco with faded paint.

Just what I’ve always wanted, a $75,000 Wrangler!

Didn’t demand to speak to the manager? What a rookie mistake.

Sadly, I don’t think that they do. It’s an off-road cosplayer and that’s mostly what people want these days.

These sorts of SUVs/CUVs are all about projecting a rugged, adventurous image to your friends and neighbors, sliding doors don’t exactly convey that - practical though they may be!

That’s just it, it looks like its big brother but has the underpinnings and capability of the Escape. I’m sure it’ll be a hit though, for most people projecting an active and adventurous image is more important than actually being active and adventurous.

I think you’ve struck gold friend, I would suggest shortening it to just “fatback.” Like a hatchback, but porkier.

It’s 2020...how is the Batmobile not a crossover? Batman’s knees are worn out after so much crime fighting so the higher entry height would be nice and he could totally use all of that extra space for schlepping secret equipment to and from the Batcave. It’s such a practical choice.

It looks like a 2005 Mustang that’s been tricked out with cheap accessories to be used as set decoration for a Fast and Furious movie. I’m sure it’ll be a huge seller in Dubai.

4x4 XLT crew cab, they were clearing out the 2019 models and yes, he really did pay $27k, MSRP was around $35k, which still would have been a huge savings over the Jeep. The Gladiator is an insanely poor value, even the base model was priced over $40k, which had highway tires, open diffs, etc actually very close in

Went to look at midsized trucks with my dad a few months ago, cheapest Gladiators were over $40k with accessories and dealer markups, the dealer told him that there was zero room for negotiation; pay asking price or GTFO...he did just that and ended up getting a similarly equipped Ranger for around $27k.

But what if the coolest version of a boring car is only very slightly cooler than the boringest version of that boring car and what if the most boring version of a cool car is quite a bit cooler still?

I think it has more to do with cars being decidedly uncool today than prices decreasing. Trying the same exercise with trucks and SUVs shows huge increases in inflation adjusted starting prices:

Our current, terrible system is much too profitable for health insurance and drug companies for any real change to take place. If you think the car dealership lobby is bad, the medical industry lobby is on a completely different level.

Here’s how it’s going to go down, Ford will overprice the Bronco at a starting price of around $45k. Dealers will mark it up another $8-10k. Ford will sell a few at that high price to wealthy enthusiasts. Car reviewers will slag it due to noise, a cheap interior, and a rough ride and recommend a CR-V instead. It’ll

Agreed, this is the perfect sled for the yuppie outdoorsy cosplayer on a budget. Now if only it had some sort of built in holder for dog poop bags as most of these people don’t pick up after their dogs during their epic 25 minute long treks at our local city park trails.

Yeah, I don’t get the hate, it is an average looking member of a homely AF category.

Last year I bought a certified used 2018 Regal Sportback for next to nothing and it is an amazing car. It does 0-60 in 5.6 seconds yet is a quiet and efficient highway cruiser. I don’t understand why anyone would choose a cheap, slow, penalty-box crossover when a new Regal can be (or could be) had for the price of a

Good point, I can’t remember the last time I saw someone driving an Infinity who wasn’t also vaping or blasting music from a booming, rattling subwoofer. Not exactly a lot of upmarket appeal there.
