One thing to take in consideration is that the images will be inherently blurrier.

If so, than you can get the same IR images (or semi x-ray if you want) by taking images with the mobile phone through an IR filter - without disassembling anything.

Knife-wise it's all nice and dandy.

I actually tried this method once or twice, and I actually find it helps to take in consideration the fact that the dish itself only reflects the signal to the sensor at it's focal plane. which means that there's a mirror effect. so to get a better estimation, think of the sensor as a laser pointer aimed at the center…

yeah - if you have one... and considering the hands thingy going over there... and the snow flakes thingy going on the other side... the resulting effects could be fined tuned so much better on PS...

I really would have gone with Photo Shop on this one....
