My first thought is that this just seems like a millennial version of a particular archetype of scary story— girl all alone in an unfamiliar setting narrowly escapes death from some wacko by sheer luck. The landline thing is sort of a giveaway (the story doesn’t really work if our gel calls 911 on her iphone does it?)

It might be “game design” but it’s still not acceptable to me. It’s just bad design— it’s a really creatively bankrupt way to extend the replayability of the game, as opposed to say, unlocking extra missions or something when you beat the game (which actually requires work).

This is one of the things I find kinda ironic about the whole “Asian PoC in cinema” issue. Native Asians themselves are less apt to wring their hands about underrepresentation (well, underrepresentation from a Western point of view), and are pragmatic about giving lead roles to global stars regardless of who they are.

I don’t know if I understand why the National Parks docket is just a troll but the hockey game one is shade. To me the NP tweet was basically textbook shade: they just happened to tell us that fact about internees, didn’t mention any names, and gives you the feeling of “did she just?” because we all know who’s been

I keep seeing this dumbass, holier-than-thou, alternate-timeline opinion everywhere, and I’m getting tired of it.

I’m normally hypersensitive to victim shaming, but come on, don’t be silly. Twitter is literally made for public interaction and replies. If you’re not ready for meanies then post it on a curated FB album or a locked-down instagram page.

Having watched it, I really do not get the fuss over The Crown. Like, some of the performances are good and it’s a pretty show, but I’m hearing some outsize praise on this side of the pond. My working theory is that Americans just tend to go apeshit over anything even adjacent to British royalty, or European period

I actually think the opposite. I know a lot of people who are already calling it a love story ***because Chris Pratt**, and women tend to get judged a lot harder for making the same fuck-ups men do.

To be slightly fair, a lot can happen between signing on for a movie and actually filming years later. Scripts can get gutted and rewritten from the ground up and would still technically be “the same movie” because the outlines are the same.

On the other hand, wanting to “stick it to the man” 100% of the time just because it’s a corporation—like Nintendo is Monsanto or something—is just as naive.

No, not “shame on Nintendo” at all. They have a pretty good history of working to give their customers the ability to create new things with their IP (the most famous recent example probably being Super Mario Maker). But this is basic IP protection. There’s nothing stopping these creators from making Pokemon-esque or

Ok, After Earth gots to go but I won’t hear anything bad about Wild, Wild West. That mess is a diamond in the rough and one of my cult favorites. I mean, Will Smith in a randomly steampunk Wild West feature with a gigantic mechanical spider?!

Alice Through the Looking Glass is definitely in the running. It has a pretty stellar cast on paper (Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska [who’s the lead as Alice], Helena Bonham Carter), but I heard it was complete garbage.

There does not exist a campaign strategy called “just focus on the electoral college”. Like, duh, that’s the end game, but both candidates are operating from incomplete information and political intuition through proxy data, including a combination of ground game, money spent, polling data, etc.

(that was the joke)

My “favorite” defense of the electoral college is that it prevents the elites who are in the majority from stepping all over the real Americans.

I feel like you’re comparing apples and oranges. Micro-Machines are basically a secret, miniature world and Hot Wheels are beautiful cars on wacky tracks. Fun in different ways.

My God, these comments are salty as hell. Can we not be both woke and appreciative of beautiful, rarefied art that is produced every once in a while in a world of darkness?

There’s also the funny “coincidence” that the M makes perfect devil horns. I look forward to see whether the cover makes Shade Court and what Kara’s verdict is.

Well I’ll be damned. I mean it’s not like I have a million Euro lying around, but I’m kind of amazed that’s about all you need to have your very own piece of French paradise. There must be some kind of catch if you’re a foreigner though.
