The Lighthouse, all day. Bizarre and dark, but also surprisingly hilarious.

I haven’t seen any of the movies on this list, but it’s hard for me to imagine a better movie this year than The Lighthouse. I like and dislike a lot of movies, but rarely do I love or hate anything, and The Lighthouse was definitely in the ‘love’ category.
That’s the danger of one-issue candidates. They’ll sell everything up the river if it means achieving that one goal. “Oh you hate banks but also want to reinstitute slavery? Endorsement!!”
Just came to post that this is really the best part of the update - so far my camp has been permanent and stationary! And when I moved the camp, it switched immediately and stayed. It had been forever since I had a reliable camp.
Probably. I’m just trying to wrap my mind around why they keep naming their consoles like this.
Agreed. We’ll have to see how this game turns out, but based on the trailer it looks like if Hellblade was the first Rocky movie - a character-focused romance film about poverty and loneliness - then Senua’s Saga looks like the series jumped straight to Rocky IV - a cold war stand-in film where a Russian man punches…
There’s a part of me that thinks they know exactly how people will respond to the name. I mean, we’re all talking about it, right? It’s not necessarily good publicity, but it is fun publicity, and that’s not necessarily bad. Like, it’s not even out yet and we’re already having fun with it.
One of the worst. A series of life-or-death situations, that never hold any sort of tension because of course he survives, there’s still an hour left in the movie. TV shows get away with this because even if you know the main character will come out okay, you’ve spent three seasons or whatever invested in them and…
I’m not sure I’d go as far to say that it’s violent, but it is the more sophisticated version of driving someone out of town with pitchforks, absolutely. Typically when I talk to my friends who are on the left, my line goes something to the affect of, “Listen, on the whole, I agree with you, but you’re acting like a…
Roseanne lost the one job with ABC, but she’s still around doing her thing outside of television as far as I know (I see her listed as a guest on podcasts and stuff still so she must be doing something). Spacey just doesn’t work period, it seems.
Yeah, I forgot about Spacey. Which I suppose was the whole point.
Oh, that’s right. Yeah, bad timing for sure.
Chumbucket! (the names in this game or awful and wonderful)
I feel you on the sandstorms. The game’s like “Go out and collect a shit load of scrap!” but then is also like “Here’s a giant piece of flying scrap to give you brain damage.” Bah.
Haha, that video is fantastic!
Yeah, I agree an 89 is high (even as much as I love it, like I said, it’s a 7/10, maybe 7.5). But I had a good time with the side objectives - knocking down those scarecrow towers was endlessly satisfying - and the combat is definitely arkham-lite, but the visuals and sound design really sell it. It’s mostly empty…
I started a new game last night just to dip my toes back in (and it might be my chill-out game for now, even though I just got Far Cry New Dawn and have only a couple hours on it.
I didn’t realize it got to the Greatest Hits level, that’s awesome! Although I have to imagine that has to do with the fact that it’s been heavily discounted so many times that the people who like the game had an easy time convincing people to give it a try. My favorite description of the game comes from an old Kotaku…
Oh yeah, at $5 it’s a no-brainer. Hope you enjoy it!
Loved Sleeping Dogs! Except the motorcycle races - without fail, a car would come out of nowhere right before the finish line and waste me. I actually deleted the game for a while out of frustration (but I went back to it and I’m glad I did).
