Both. The endgame is traveling anywhere that is currently too long / tedious / too expensive, in a fraction of the time, at a fraction of the cost. We, as a human race, could do much greater things if travel and distance weren’t obstacles. Just think about being able to travel from NYC to LA in a fraction of the time…
