    Apple removed their "Bounce to sender" feature in the most recent version of mail, saying that this practice seldom gets the bounce to the actual sender and can actually increase the amount of spam if it does get to them, since it confirms you got the message. [support.apple.com]

    Fixed the maps thing as well; I had "Navizon" installed previously (a 3rd party app that essentially does the same thing as the new built-in maps feature), so I reinstalled it to see if it would work.

    Here's a great reminder on how to configure Apple Mail to use the right Gmail folders, similar to the tip mentioned above for iPhone.

    And now after quitting Mail and returning, it's working again... and the Gmail website shows the IMAP option again...

    Humph. I set up my Gmail to use IMAP this morning, then added a new IMAP account in Mail, and everything was working great.
