I just told you: They are waiting in line, quietly and obediently, for Trump to let them know what their role is going to be in this brave new world. You act like that’s easy or something. Many of them are wearing uncomfortable shoes and it looks like it might rain soon!

Probable citations: This dude who mostly posts Supernatural related content on his Tumblr but sometimes comments on politics too, a friend of a a friend on Facebook, this one dude who is a really prolific commentor at alter.net

Great points. If the past 8 years have proven nothing else, they’ve proven that random internet blowhards who intermittently pay attention to politics via their FB feeds can definitely out-think and out-maneuver Obama politically. What a chump.

Thank you! Most people just don’t get this. I don’t know, folks, do they not get it because they’re losers or are they losers because they don’t get it? Either way they’d better get it soon if they know what’s good for them. You love this, don’t you? Isn’t this just the best?

Oh quit bellyaching, they’re doing plenty.

The Times also informs me that Sessions has a “courtly demeanor” and a syrupy accent that really sets his colleagues at ease. Hard to fathom the fuss, really...

Back when America was Great, Reagan’s people and GHWB’s people hated each other so much they couldn’t stand to be in the same room, and so for much of Reagan’s reign the two camps communicated almost exclusively by mutually leaking what they had to say to the others to friendlies in the DC media.

Wait, so what are the answers they’re looking for on questions about “The equality of men and women?” And, for that matter, about the Constitution?

smells like a steak and seats 35! canyonero!

And for letting his dad shoot JFK

That is a sweet impulse but, no, you really really wouldn’t.

Lots of people are saying. I’ve seen footage. Sad!

If I knew someone who said/posted this, I’d hassle them, because I do think it’s gross and because I’m an uptight, sanctimonious killjoy with the temperament of a British vicar in a Maugham story. But if it was the worst he’s said, and especially if he has clearly grown and evolved as a person in the *literally years*

I developed a powerful antipathy toward Mark Lilla in such a short time reading that essay. It was snide and dismissive and struck me as the work of a sheltered, spoiled (white) brat suddenly trying to talk tough and say “Hey guys let’s all live in the real world now huh?”

you beat me to this!

(someone else already posted this, i see!)

Thanks for posting this. Painter’s History of White People did more to shape my understanding of race in America than any other single text, and I had been waiting for her response to the election. I’m a Times subscriber but somehow this had slipped right past me!
