Is your child okay now?
Yeah, this is why I tend not to share the specifics on what happened with others. It was an extremely rare reaction to something very common. There’s already too much to worry about as a parent to be preoccupied with such a remote possibility!
I don’t think anyone replied to you, but it takes about 10-15 minutes to pump, so while I assume she was able to squeeze in a few minutes of expression during her pee breaks, after 14 hours I’m certain she was in dire discomfort.
This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
I had to perform CPR on my infant daughter a few months ago. She started crying strangely, and after we pulled her out of her crib, she stopped breathing.
It was terrifying, and despite having aced our CPR class, I think I probably did a terrible job at it. I was shaking and just kept screaming for my husband to call…
Um, TOTALLY jealous of her A++++ hand expression technique.
- Any political consultant or operative would tell you to not concede any race with a razor-thin margin until it’s been called or a recount has taken place. Once you’ve conceded, you lose any ground to claim victory even if the facts bear out that you are in fact the winner.
I was SUPER giddy about being called again for jury duty earlier this year - until I realized the day I was to report for duty was my daughter’s due date. I thought about somehow trying to serve, but I’m glad I did request an excuse as she was born right on time!
YAY for jury duty!
Not just that - they may actually be indentured, in debt to the company for the cost of airfare, training, etc.
For some reason I was googling last night articles about the working conditions on cruise ships. Even though many companies are headquartered in the U.S., because their ships are registered in other countries, it allows them to skirt labor law.
The most mistreated employees are the cleaning, culinary and maintenance…
1000+ to your first point. It shouldn’t hurt your career to take an extended leave, but it does. I’m grappling whether we can afford not just the unpaid leave, but the extended period thereafter of a reduced salary, the inevitable punishment I’d pay for taking an extended absence from the workforce.
I have a difficult-to-feed infant, and I’m terrified about what to do about daycare when my partner has to return to work. (We each took leave to tend to the baby.)
She’s a good baby when she’s not being fed, but during mealtimes she takes every ounce of patience because thanks to some medical issues she had initially,…
Our first kid is arriving in T-three weeks, and we’re giving the baby my husband’s last name because I don’t want a hyphenated last name for our kids and my last name is harder to spell. (Also, it’s not a Latino surname, and I identify as Latina, so I’m not very attached to it.)
I wish we were better at dealing with…
Is it really fair to call it a “history of putting girls on this show on blast” when you’re really just alluding to one incident with Andi?
(I also don’t think he was slut-shaming, but rather blurting a question out from a place of heartbreak, one that he clearly would have rather asked privately, but that’s beside…
I’m a month away from my due date and have been ROCKING the fuck out of a bikini, and damn proud of it.
I am similarly upset over my SIL, except she is sharing OUR news very, very publicly despite the fact that we wish to keep certain information anonymous. She doesn’t seem to care that it’s OUR pregnancy; it’s HERS, damnit.
I bet it overlaps perfectly with the folks who say “just get in line” and think there’s a magic booth with on the southern border of the U.S. that exists, in which you can get in line to apply for citizenship, never mind a fucking visa.
(Reality: the magic line to come here “the right way” doesn’t exist unless you are…
It’s OBVIOUS she developed a crush on him through their online messaging. If you take away the editing, Nick seems like a caring, sentimental guy. (The comment about “why did you make love to me?” seemed like a truly heart-broken utterance and not slut-shaming in the least. Ironic that the things that supposedly make…
I was always hoping that the feud was temporary, because I thought it worked for the character of Alicia that she was able to forgive all sorts of people, but not Kalinda — thereby proving that try as she might, she was still beholden to the role of The Good Wife, and the fallout from an affair falls long after the…
I also did a bouquet toss but redefined its meaning. We invited everyone to participate, and told them that catching it meant happiness beyond your wildest dreams was in store for you (or something like that).
