When talking about one African American or a group of African Americans, white southerners will often mention their race for no reason.

Her son’s on Facebook and uses the word pretty regularly to describe the black community — I’m willing to wager that he learned the word in large part from his parents.

I checked back here to see if the candidate who interviewed with me last year had posted. She did well enough during the interview and then at some point managed to slip the word “cockblock” into the interview to describe internal office politics.

The word didn’t offend me, but the office I was helping to hire

Workers organizing groups like the NY Healthy Nail Salons Coalition also deserve a ton of credit for elevating this issue, helping to secure coverage like this and the introduction of a bill back on May 1 that will improve safety for workers.

This is a worker-lead movement — especially laudable because these employees

Ahaha. I was a 10/12 pre-pregnancy, but surprisingly I feel most confident/less like a tent in body hugging shirts and dresses.

Also, I have TERRIBLE chest acne (chacne?), but no puffy legs or veins yet. But all maternity dresses seem ridiculously low-cut out of some weird obsession with giant breasts. I’d kill for

I’m pregnant now (7 mos), and maxi dresses make me look like I’m 9 mos pregnant, not in a cute or flattering way. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry I was grouchy in response - no coffee yet. :)

This wasn’t their cause. Why the hell show up at a rally that’s intended to shine a light on the injustice facing the immigrant community, and demand that they adopt a vegan diet? It’s tone deaf, it’s insensitive, it’s selfish — and it accomplishes absolutely nothing other than losing allies.

More proof that PETA cares more about animals than about immigrants who are literally toiling in indentured servitude.

I went to a immigrants’ rights protest a few years ago and saw them handing out leaflets about the travesty facing CHICKENS in poultry plants. Nothing about the workers. Then they were pushing these

I feel so lucky to be giving birth at a hospital where (a) they have a midwife program within a hospital setting and (b) where the OB/GYN side is also equally sold on the benefits of low-intervention, probably influenced in part by the midwife program.

Regardless of which side of the practice I end up delivering with,

But can we universally acknowledge that it’s pretty terrible when a woman feels the need to get one to accommodate her husband’s? Especially when husband is not in any life-saving employment, just incapable of balancing life/work?

We didn't have the energy to do a big honeymoon after all the planning and DIY for a "urban frugal" (read: still frightfully expensive) wedding. Instead we decided to fly for a few days to the Bahamas because we found cheap plane tickets. We did ZERO pre-planning — and arrived to find the island was dry for the

When I was 8 or 9, I was flying by myself and have a layover there between JFK and Mexico City. Despite being ticketed as an unaccompanied minor, and having to wear the embarrassing button, the airline I was flying failed to have someone meet me at the gate to take me to my next leg.

Mid-1990s, Charlotte. The school was built during segregation and designed to be like a collegiate experience. However that college-like experience was not equally extended to all.

I moved quite frequently as a kid and ended up going to 3 high schools.

My objection is a bit similar, but Honeyfunds feel like you're being held hostage by the hosts: "We're going to the Bahamas for our honeymoon! But we'll have to cancel our trip if you don't fork over the cash to pay for it, because we have spent every last penny on this damn wedding."

They DID give the deposit back — but of course, only after I ripped them a new one on social media.

The band didn't show up to our wedding. No one bothered to call until the next day, when we had already left the country.

I LOVE lavender. It's so soothing and comforting, but I've stayed away from it during my pregnancy and plan on using it only sporadically with the baby-to-be because it *may* have potential estrogenic effects.
