I remember reading an article a few years back (Popular Mechanics, maybe?) about a proposed 6-cycle engine where distilled water was injected after the exhaust stroke, vaporizes on the hot cylinder walls, and is used to both cool the engine and provide an additional steam-based power stroke.

"the number of times that regular human beings go from 0-60 is approximately never." Or for those of us in Los Angeles, Twice a day, ten times a week, Raphael.

Sorry, but I think your argument falls flat. Automakers have always done what they can to get the best specs and test results, so the fact that they're all now using advanced launch and traction control systems is no different (consider the lap times cars are getting because of the computers at work now). If

Exactly. A .3 drop from the 0-60 vs the 5-60 has to be one of the best I've ever seen.... What other sub 3-second 0-60 cars can claim 5-60 in under 3?

"Real speed is acceleration from when you are already rolling"....

Yeah, you can't just go around evaluating a car by measuring it's performance!

Raph. Cmon.

Pretty much every car is slower doing 5-60 than it is from 0-60. This is because when accelerating from a stop, you can dump the clutch at high RPMs (or brake torque the car to high RPMs if it is an automatic). When you accelerate from 5-60, you have no choice but to accelerate from low RPMs because the car is already
