Yep, I have neighbors like this. He’s a tax accountant. Buys a new one for him every five years, a new one for the wife in between the five years. Hands them down to their kids. Good point, as AWD vehicles use power transfer units. VW and Deutsche Auto Parts both describe the VAG unit as a transfer case, so I used their terminology.
