Worst would be the viewer but not the FBI finding out she’s a Russian spy at the very end, like the ironic-ending horror movie trope. That would not be satisfying.

Um... The show has dwelled on Renee just enough that its clear her character will prove significant in some way. For no apparent reason, she suddenly reveals an intense desire to work at the FBI. Then she wrangles an interview for a job in HR—where new agents are hired. No way that doesn’t bear fruit somehow.

The Centre has two lines at the moment. Claudia’s faction doesn’t even represent the top management, which is Arkady. Essentially, Claudia’s faction is attempting the Soviet version of a coup. Elizabeth just realized that she was siding with the dissidents unawarely (in Claudia’s words “for her own protection”), and

I wonder if Phillip believed he had already arranged his own death by confessing to Elizabeth he’d been spying on her.

I can’t believe the twist they’ve pulled on us - at the eleventh hour, both Philip and Elizabeth are now finally engaged in trying to save the world from the brink, just as Stan is about to try to put them down. The moral complexity of this end game is just amazing. And that’s to say nothing of Oleg’s position in the

You don’t think there’s going to be some big reveal in the finale about Renee, and that she’s going to stop or gun down Stan before he gets Elizabeth? I seriously doubt they’ll leave that hanging.

I wondered if Philip was going to arrange his own death so that Henry would benefit from his life insurance?

Philip’s new suit: He is planning, preparing, for an operation. Maybe it’s part of a costume; maybe he needs to dress in a way that makes him closely resemble someone else (Nesterenko?). Remember that we still don’t know what Philip said in his coded message to Oleg. Something’s in the works, and P and O are quietly

If anybody wants to hop on the “Elizabeth’s not really an evil monster” bandwagon, I made you some room in the back.

Great episode. I mean, I feel like this show might be giving me an ulcer or heart palpitations or something (figuratively, not literally...yet), but great.

My one point of contention with the review is

An aspect of the direction I loved was the blocking of Elizabeth going through Max Medina’s attache case. Though the script had no intention of him catching her, the direction implied it (her back to the stairwell, which was in the background in half those shots).

Not only does Elizabeth let two people live, she euthanizes a woman she has grown close to when saving her would have benefited her mission and then she almost saves a souvenir that can not be allowed to exist anywhere near her. And most of that before she learns that the country she has done all of this for has been

I think she’s going to be something of a historical safety valve. Stan finds out about the neighbors but doesn’t suspect the one living under his roof. He goes to arrest the Jennings, and Renee kills him, and the world doesn’t hear about the Russian illegals program for another 20 years.

Last year I wondered if the show would bring Elizabeth around to Phillip’s disillusionment with the Centre. I figured it would be by pitting her allegiance to her country against her allegiance to her family. But of course, in a much more Elizabeth fashion, it turns out it was her allegiance to her country against her

At this point, I kinda hope no one believes Stan about the Jennings’. Then the final scene is The Jennings packing up to move away, pulling off in a U-Haul, and looking back at Stan in his driveway to say “Dosvedanya”

There was some significance to that call Phillip made to Henry. He was so eager to call that he does so as soon as they get in, and then Henry can’t be bothered. I think it’s setting up that Henry will be either the lone one standing and he’ll be ok because he’s been abandoned essentially OR the other three go to

I was thinking of Elizabeth’s careful measurements when she was looking through Tuan’s room. Wouldn’t Elizabeth and Philip realize someone was snooping in their house? Guess not.

Not sure what your point is. If that’s the plan why risk it by putting Paige in the field? If she gets arrested for anything, however minor, it’s going to minimize her chances of getting hired. Even interns get background checked. And for a full time position they ask about your family. If Paige were to get hired it

I just think it’s absurd to have her in the field at all especially when over six seasons they have had plenty of other helpers. I know it’s a fictional tv series and they need some action, conflict and drama but still. . .

If they really wanted Paige to get into government work she should have been home studying every night. For one, internships are competitive. Second, if she got in any trouble during her missions it could blow her chances - even if it never connected her to spy work. Government employees are subjected to background

No decent human being, much less a loving mother, would ask her daughter to enter that life. Paige has no idea what she’s signing up for. “Taking risks” and “doing dangerous things” still don’t conjure up the visual of chopping someone’s head and hands off, or of the many other horrible things her parents have done
