Yes, I think this is the most damning part. Whether or not Goodell/the NFL saw the video or not is inconsequential (assuming there wasn't some kind of conspiratorial coverup).

First of all, I guarantee they saw that tape. No one can convince me otherwise. It doesn't really matter though, they had the police report which stated that Ray Rice struck Janay in the head and knocked her unconscious. So, the fact that the video tape shows exactly what is described in the police report should…
They didn't need to strong arm anyone. They could have gotten the evidence from the correct police department, Rice's lawyer, and most likely the casino itself. All they had to do was ask the right people.
So the NFL knew that Rice, "attempting to cause bodily injury to J. Palmer ...[struck] her with his hand, rendering her unconscious."
Hmmm. The last time the NFL went hard against illegal contact etc. was when the Patriots manhandled the Colts in the AFC championship game. What happened last season? The Seahawks manhandled the Broncos in the Super Bowl. Quarterback for those Colts and these Broncos? Mr. Payton Manning. Don't mean to go all false…
That's a black man in the US saying that Sam shouldn't have a chance because it wouldn't be smooth.
With the caveat of 20/20 hindsight, I'm not sure this is clearly a worse option. You get a valuable asset dirt cheap for a year, with a year to negotiate a longer term contract over the course of the season. If he tests the market, fine, you can still win out if you're in range and he wants to stay (i.e. you don't…
Honestly, why don't the Cavs trade Wiggins for Love. Love is one of the 10 best players in the league and is only 25. Wiggins has great potential but didn't look like a world killer in college and its fairly common for hot prospects to flame out. Wouldn't it be a best case scenario that Wiggins be as good as Love at…
henrik stayed out there and suffered the loss like a man. Great goalie, lots of heart from the rangers.
The Native Americans that don't see the nickname as offensive aren't opposed to a name change—they're just neutral on it. If there are any tribes that so deeply opposed to the name change that they think it's worth taking out TV spots to comment on it, they're welcome to it.
While this is certainly a good cause, I don't think anything they say or do is going to make a difference unless it hurts Dan Snyder in the pocketbook. Until then, he's just going to continue ignoring them like he's done for years.
From what I've seen, among the leadership of a lot of tribes, there is a concern that they are not acknowledged at the highest levels of policy making and they're determined to flex their muscles — getting acknowledgement on this issue, which may not be pivotal in the course of life, but is nonetheless symbolic, is a…
I totally agree, you have UConn who with their 10% graduation rate was banned from the postseason last year and Kentucky who at least doesn't even try to pretend they give a shit about education (that's why I honestly don't dislike Calipari, at least he's transparent about things).
You wanna know the real tragedy about ESPN having these videos pulled? I actually like Chris Berman MORE because of them.
