“consumer-pleasing, competent crossovers”
Ugh. Boring junk.
Mazda, Subaru, and crowd-destroying Mustang/Camaro is all we have left?

Hey look. Another “SUV” without “sport” or “utility” ... grand.
How is it we have more cars than ever before AND THEY ARE ALL THE SAME?!
Meanwhile Rockstar, and its gamers who enjoy “good” games, laugh and laugh and laugh.
I spent $60 on GTAV and have played roughly 3000 hours of it. That’s a pretty cheap game!
Put a manual transmission in it and it will sell itself! (to about 5000 people per year anyway)
I was unhappy with the wordiness of your story. That is, until you said the cup was “the inanimate carbon rod of sports.” Touche, sir.
I, for one, welcome our new *carbon rod* overlords!
omg, that color! Is it “meh-car monday” already?
You’re a crazy person. The Warthog was/is the BEST! Sure, it isn’t GranTurismo, but I don’t think my miata could take out very many brutes anyway! The Warthog just required a light touch and it was flawless, I took that thing everywhere!
So - this is all a big scam, right? I mean, Tesla makes a far more complicated car with far less, and actually sells them. Paul Elio is just fleecing the government and investors for sweet sweet free $250K salaries, right?
It’s a shame. I’d pay 10 grand for that vehicle. I think it is definitely an unfilled niche.…
What if your car is REALLY hot. ...and a grill?
Interesting. I see the “drive on the parkway, park on the driveway” critique. One of the many failures of the english language. For me “turn up the AC” means to lower the temp so the AC comes on, and “turn down the AC” means to lower the temp so the AC comes on.
I have never wanted a room warmer than its original…
Rear-engine on a car is absurd. It is the worst of all worlds which is why almost nobody does it. Yes, Porsche stubbornly persists, but look at how far forward that thing has evolved.
There is no argument:
Front - safety, nostalgia, fwd
Mid - performance deathtrap
Rear - idiots.
I wonder how much of that is skewed by the rise/expansion of super-luxury vehicles. What would the numbers look like if you removed all loans of $100K+?
Cuz I know, for damn sure, I can’t afford 500 bucks per month!
Aw, man! I had my checkbook out and pen was so wet with ink, then I saw that tranny...
Auto? No deal.
“Maam, I’m sorry, you can’t return that poutine, you ate it all.”
“Yeah, I ate it, but it was sh*t! You want the sh!t back?”
“Maam, please, we...”
“No, you want the sh!t, I’ll give you the sh!t. ........grunting.... There you go! take the sh!t. ...soorry, f*ck you guys, soorry, have a nice day.”
It’s a decent argument but your main fault with HUD in general is that it is distracting, BUT - if you can’t drive without being distracted by a simple low-lumen light, you probably shouldn’t be driving in the first place.
It was fantastic. Not unexpected, but I honestly didn’t think they would follow through. Not only did they follow through on the threats but they stuck the landing, HARD. It was great.
So the big question - what is the magic macguffin that will “undo” at least parts of this? And then which parts cannot be undone?
It…
1st off - yes. Cars are better. And Thank you for saying it bluntly.
2nd - I did buy a Chevy Avalanche to fit 3 kids in the back. You know kids have to stay in carseats until they are 5-foot these days?! I wasn’t 5 foot until high school!! Car seats 3-wide was literally impossible in my Chevy Cruze and CTS. I tried.…
One of the Jalop writers did a story about “number of gears” and decided 5 was ideal (for manual tranny). I whole-heartedly agree. Gear-spacing is more important than number of gears. 1 thru 3 built for acceleration, 4th for cruising below 65, 5th should hum along at 2300RPM at 80MPH. Solved!
So for the price of half of Netflix I get racing? Seems steep. Do you know if Velocity/MTtv will be part of YouTubeTV or anything similar to include more than just MotorTrend originals and a few races?
They have tried everything except building cars! Call me crazy, but I always thought that was at least a small part of being a car manufacturer...
