This is, like, a nice car, man. If you want to ride in 90's style with the top down, you can do way worse. The NA engine with a stick is crucial here. Simpler maintenance, ample power, row-your-own fun. It’s not a light and nimble sportscar, but it’s a nice drop-top GT that can handle curvy roads just fine. 90s

This right here. I like t-tops. They make sense for certain cars. I really like Targa 911s. I think the chassis rigidity issue is overblown. Is it just a cost thing, is that why we don’t see more things like this?

I would love to have the cash to find out. Such cool cars and the fact that you can still buy one new is awesome.

There are dealers in my area with brand new Evos sitting on their lots for 39k and if I had the cash I would be very tempted. I would keep it stock and just drive it. What a wonderful “practical” car to go with my miata.

This is a terrible car, built by a terrible person, and anyone who likes it is also terrible.

Yes please. Just give them the money and let them play. Too many cooks will definitely spoil this broth.

This is really great advice, I couldn’t agree more.

I totally forgot that! I stand corrected on the general lack of street car sportiness amongst the crew. But man, a miata on staff would be great. Like, just hire me or whatever. I’ll start writing posts about my turbo build. I’m super duper good at writing dawg. And my miata is going to be extraspecialflamedeluxesauce

This is also not a bad idea.

Which is great! But it’s a track car, isn’t it? The Jalopnik street car fleet is... quirky, but not particularly exciting in terms of handling and cornering.

Which is great, but just not quite the same.

Yeah but no one has one right now. Everyone either drives something from the soviet era with carbs, a lemons car, or is Tavarish. I’d love to see an actual sportscar get some love around here from an owner perspective.

Be the first on Jalopnik staff to actually own the answer.

Jalopnik, where the answer is always miata an elderly luxury car, a lemons car, or one of these ancient, rusting hulks designed in the late triassic era

Watching you get schooled was fun!

Right. I’m actually really glad they found each other.

Yeah. Sometimes people go over the top. But sometimes they go so far over the top, so far past anything that could be considered sane, that the focus and determination and the single-minded obsession are what make the build. These guys are freaks. Absolute freaks. In the best, best, best possible way.

What an incredible piece of torture. Honda showing us they totally understand how attached we are to the simple, lovable cars they used to make, and then crushing our relationships with those machines by way of the crushed heart of an adorable little girl. Cute little song and everything. Why couldn’t we see the

I was daily-ing my 1990 Miata with 242k on the clock shortly after I bought it. It’s down now for a turbo install but even on the original 1.6 mill it never failed to start. Even the impossible to please Chris Harris noted the exceptional build quality the last time he did a review of an NA miata.
